Chapter 440 A Guilty Conscience
Jenny called Kimberly to push her into action.
With Fiorello out of town, it was the perfect chance.
Kimberly was heading back to the countryside but turned around after Jenny's call. She returned to Cyberland but stayed at a hotel instead of the Flores Mansion.
Kimberly also called Ariel, urging her to act.
At Eagle Group, Gregory noticed Fiorello had left Cyberland and found it suspicious. He called Steven. "Check Fiorello's flight. Find out where he's going and why."
Steven replied, "Mr. Flores, I already did. A Visionary Futures factory near Crystal Peaks caught fire, destroying two-thirds of their electric vehicle batteries. Five people died, and Visionary Futures is keeping it quiet. Should we stir things up?"
Gregory had a plan. "No need to spread the news. Others will do that. Fiorello will be desperate to buy from competitors. We need to corner the market before he does."
Steven hesitated. "Mr. Flores, we don't have enough liquid capital, and we don't deal in this business. Who will we sell to after buying?"
"Do as I say. Use all available funds. Be flexible with the price," Gregory insisted. He saw a chance to outmaneuver Fiorello by buying up the goods and selling them back at a high price.
Gregory aimed to beat Fiorello.
Meanwhile, Jenny was stirring things up on Kimberly's side. Maggie had no idea danger was near.
Night fell, and Ariel, after another call from Kimberly, was wavering. Kimberly promised her a million dollars and help buying a house for her daughter.
Ariel's daughter was getting married, but her boyfriend's family looked down on her because of the house issue. They said if she didn't come up with half the down payment, the house wouldn't have her name on it.
Buying a house now would give her daughter confidence and security with her in-laws.
Ariel sat in the maid's room, clutching the abortion pills Kimberly gave her, feeling conflicted.
Arya knocked on the door. "Ariel."
Ariel quickly hid the pills under the pillow, tidied her clothes, and opened the door. "Arya, what do you need?"
Arya smiled. "I saw your light on. Couldn't sleep, so I came to chat."
Ariel offered, "How about I cut some fruit for you?"
"No need, I ate too much at dinner," Arya said with a smile. "Don't be so formal. We're about the same age. You have a daughter, right? We're both mothers. I used to work in hotel housekeeping, wash dishes, and stock shelves, working several jobs."
Ariel said, "Arya, you've had it tough, but now you can relax."
"It's all because of Maggie that I can rest," Arya said proudly. She took Ariel's hand. "Let's sit on the couch and chat, maybe watch some TV."
"Okay," Ariel agreed. She couldn't sleep either.
Both having daughters, they had a lot to talk about.
Sitting on the couch, Arya asked, "Ariel, I heard you on the phone this morning. Does your husband often hit you?"
Ariel felt ashamed and embarrassed. "Occasionally," she admitted.
"Ariel, as women, we need boundaries. Life is hard enough. If you can't go on, divorce him. Don't waste your life," Arya advised.
These words hit Ariel hard. No one had ever said this to her. She had gotten used to enduring.
Ariel's eyes reddened. "Arya, it's not that I don't want to leave. It's for my daughter. I can't let him go after her. I don't mind ruining my life, but I can't drag my daughter down with me."
