Chapter 172 The Perils of Playing Matchmaker

With an unreserved gaze, Maggie met his eyes directly. "Just to whet your appetite, you do look rather appetizing," she said, taking a seat and sliding the breakfast of milk and pancakes towards Fiorello. It was a simple American breakfast, the kind she often prepared since Fiorello never voiced any complaints about the food.Maggie abruptly changed the subject. "Did you hear about the CEO of Visionary Futures Group getting married?" "Yes, I did," Fiorello replied, a hint of nervousness creeping into his voice. "How did you find out?" Only insiders were privy to the fact that he had tied the knot, and there was no information about the bride. Maggie was not an insider, so her knowledge of this news was perplexing. Fiorello was careful to keep any information about Maggie away from the public eye, preventing any rumors about him from spreading online."I heard it from Emily's friend, who also happens to be my colleague," Maggie explained. "I didn't expect Emily to be a young lady from the Roberts family. She used to have a crush on Mr. Flores. When she heard he got married, her heart broke. I promised to introduce her to a handsome guy to comfort her."Maggie tactfully omitted any mention of the party, deeming it best to avoid unnecessary trouble. Many young talents at the party had asked for her contact information, but she chose to remain silent, not wanting to incite Fiorello's jealousy."What do you think about me introducing Holden to her?" Maggie proposed. "Considering Emily is a young lady from the Roberts family, I think they would be a good match."Fiorello almost choked on his milk at her words. "Maggie, you better not play matchmaker carelessly. They are not suitable for each other, and it seems like Holden already has a girlfriend."

Fiorello was familiar with Emily from the Roberts family; he had heard Holden complain about her a few times. She was described as someone obsessed with love, and they would argue every time they met, indicating they weren't compatible. If Maggie introduced Emily to Holden, his identity would also be exposed. Fiorello wasn't aware that the young lady from the Roberts family had started working at the jewelry company under Visionary Futures Group; he only found out recently."Ah, forget it then," Maggie said regretfully. "But it's quite surprising that Mr. Flores got married at such a young age. Do you think he will regret it? We never heard any rumors about him being in a relationship before, and suddenly he's married. Mr. Flores' wife must also be a wealthy young lady.""Is this considered marrying young?" Fiorello's lips curled slightly. "Mr. Flores is thirty years old; is that considered young? At his age, kids of his peers might already be in elementary school.""Indeed," Maggie chuckled. "We can't quite understand the world of the wealthy. Now that you mention it, I feel like we're a bit late in having children of our own.""We can catch up in the future. How about having two children within three years? Or even having a pair of twins directly to boost our productivity?"Maggie chuckled. "Do you think I'm a breeder? If you want kids, go have them yourself."Mr. Flores' secret marriage was no longer a secret within the industry. After Fiorello showed his ring, many in the industry speculated about who Mrs. Flores was, to win the heart of Cyberland's Mr. Flores.Selena, who had been fired from the company, also heard about this news from others. With her wide network and interactions with many young ladies from affluent families, she was privy to the news.

Upon discovering that Mr. Flores was a married man, a wave of surprise washed over Selena, quickly followed by a chuckle. 'Mr. Flores has a wife, so what does that make Maggie? Surely, she must be nothing more than a lover or mistress,' she mused to herself.

Jones had previously hinted that Maggie's support system was Mr. Flores, advising her to refrain from spreading rumors to avoid any unnecessary trouble. The secrecy and concealment surrounding their relationship only seemed to confirm Selena's suspicions that Maggie was indeed a mistress. With this thought, a sense of satisfaction settled over Selena. She had initially believed that Maggie possessed genuine potential, oblivious to the fact that she was merely a woman who relied on her beauty to climb the ladder of success. For mistresses of affluent CEOs like Mr. Flores, their time in the limelight was typically fleeting. Even if a scandal were to erupt, it would be dismissed as nothing more than a casual fling.

'Once Maggie falls out of favor, dealing with such an insignificant character will be a breeze,' Selena thought smugly.Unbeknownst to Maggie, Selena was already plotting her downfall. However, she was currently preoccupied with her drive to the office.

Upon her arrival, a colleague informed her that Jones wished to see her in his office. Maggie couldn't help but wonder if this had anything to do with Selena's dismissal. She was aware of Selena's past relationship with Jones, but she was uncertain if her connection with Fiorello could assist her in navigating this potential crisis.Taking a moment to compose herself, Maggie took a sip of water and headed towards the general manager's office. She knocked on the door, "Mr. Bary," she called out.

"Maggie, you're here," Jones greeted her warmly, rising from his seat, "Please, have a seat."Jones, too, had heard whispers from the party, but his interpretation of the situation was starkly different from Selena's. The protective manner in which Fiorello treated Maggie, coupled with the secret marriage and his entrusted care of Maggie, suggested a more discreet form of support. "Could Maggie be Fiorello's secret wife?" he pondered.
