Chapter 689 Crossing the Line

Melissa was very considerate in her manners, leaving no room for criticism.

Even Adalia received a gold bracelet, a thoughtful gesture that most people wouldn't have considered.

Everyone would only think about the two newborns of the Flores family. This newborn party was also for these two babies, and even when giving gifts, no one would prepare something for Adalia.

In this regard, even Arya felt ashamed. She had prepared a cross for Katie and Nate but nothing for Adalia.

She had prepared silver bracelets for her two little grandchildren but hadn't thought of buying a pair for Adalia.

Melissa, with a beaming smile, said, "Maggie, please accept this. I wish all three babies health, safety, and intelligence as they grow up."

Mark didn't say anything; he hadn't known about Melissa's preparations in advance.

Eleanor smiled and said, "Maggie, go ahead and accept it. It's a blessing for the children."

"Thank you," Maggie forced a smile and accepted it.

Eleanor took charge, "The guest room is ready. Mark, Melissa, why don't you stay over tonight?"

Maggie really didn't want Melissa to stay at the house, but since Eleanor said it in front of everyone, she couldn't object and had to acquiesce.

Tomorrow was the newborn party. Once it was over, Mark and Melissa would leave. Thinking this way, staying one night wasn't a big deal.

Mark was quite willing to stay and said with a smile, "Thank you for the trouble."

"No problem, we're all family," Eleanor said warmly. "Mark, how about you stay in the same room as before?"

Mark had his own room here from when he was recovering.

"No problem at all, you're very considerate," Mark said, satisfied.

Eleanor then said to Melissa, "Melissa, you can stay in the room next to your dad's."

Melissa smiled and said, "Whatever you arrange is fine with me."

And so, Eleanor had both Melissa and Mark stay over.

Arya and Ashley were like fire and water, but Arya had never had a conflict with Melissa. When Melissa saw Arya, she would greet her politely.

As the saying goes, one doesn't hit a smiling face. Arya could only reluctantly respond.

As an elder, she couldn't be less gracious than the younger generation and argue with them.

Fiorello wasn't home. When he came back in the evening, he found out that two more people were staying at the house, arranged by Eleanor.

Fiorello knew very well that Maggie didn't like Melissa and certainly didn't want her staying at Sunset Hills. He found Eleanor and said, "Mom, why did you let them stay at Sunset Hills? There are plenty of hotels outside. In the future, leave these matters to Maggie to handle; you don't need to get involved."

Eleanor was puzzled, "Did I do something wrong again? Fiorello, that's Maggie's dad and sister. That's why I arranged for them to stay here. Is Maggie upset?"

"Maggie and Melissa are half-sisters from different mothers. The two families are complicated, and the relationships are complex. Some things can't be explained in a few words. In short, Mom, don't get involved in these matters in the future. Let Maggie handle them," Fiorello felt a headache coming on. Ever since the babies were born, Eleanor had been causing trouble, acting and speaking without thinking.

Eleanor said, "Fiorello, I'm sorry. I didn't consider all that. Melissa gave the babies gold bracelets, and she's very nice. Mark also stayed here before, so I just casually let them stay. I couldn't let Mark stay and send Melissa away."

"Mom, in the future, don't get involved with matters concerning the Jackson family. After the newborn party tomorrow, they should leave," Fiorello rubbed his temples and said, "One more thing, Mom, I hope you prioritize Maggie's opinions in whatever you do."

This was his and Maggie's home, and Maggie was the hostess.

Fiorello was very clear about this and would never let his own mother overstep her bounds.

Eleanor understood, feeling a bit uncomfortable and somewhat sulky, she said, "You're blaming me for making decisions for you. I get it. I won't say anything in the future."

"Suit yourself," Fiorello didn't have the energy to keep persuading Eleanor.

After speaking, Fiorello went upstairs to see the babies.

In the hallway, Fiorello ran into Melissa coming out of the adjacent room.

"Hello," Melissa greeted with a smile. From a business perspective, Melissa greatly admired Fiorello. He was her idol and the target she aimed to surpass.

Melissa had always been ambitious. The Jackson Group would definitely surpass Visionary Futures Group.

"Mm," Fiorello responded expressionlessly, not saying another word, and walked straight to the master bedroom.

With more people in the house, Adalia didn't come downstairs and stayed in the room playing with her younger siblings.

Maggie was organizing the babies' clothes, matching outfits for the newborn party tomorrow.

Seeing Fiorello return, Maggie asked, "Fiorello, can you help choose which outfit Katie and Nate should wear tomorrow?"

Adalia also waved happily, gesturing: Daddy.

"Adalia," Fiorello still liked to pat Adalia's head, ruffling her hair, and said, "Adalia, go find Ms. Hughes for a bit. I need to talk to your mom."

Adalia understood and left with a smile.

Maggie saw Fiorello send Adalia away and asked, "What's going on?"

"I know about Mom arranging for Melissa to stay," Fiorello sat on the sofa, looking at Maggie, and said, "Mom has been a bit inconsiderate lately. Maggie, don't take it to heart."

"Did you just go talk to your mom? Did you say something to her?"
