Chapter 516 Shame and Redemption

Francis was always hitting up Maggie. With his killer looks and that strong sense of justice, he had this vibe that made everyone feel safe. Dulce was dying to set them up.

Maggie knew exactly what Dulce was thinking and grinned, "Don't even go there. Francis and I are just friends, nothing more."

"All couples start as just friends," Dulce said, all animated. "Maggie, seriously, think about it. Look at Francis, those muscles, the strength in his arms, he’s like a walking security blanket."

"You're single and you like this type of guy. How about I set you two up?" Maggie teased, feeling a bit swayed by Dulce's praise. "Dulce, I'm serious. Francis is way more reliable than your exes. You're not getting any younger. I've already been divorced, and you're still not married."

"Cut it out. I don't like that type. He's so boring, it's like talking to a robot. And every time I think of him in those red undies, I can't stop laughing," Dulce said, cracking up at the memory. "Maggie, do you think he still wears red?"

Maggie looked a bit uncomfortable. "I have no idea. Ask him yourself."

Francis had mentioned he ditched the red, but Maggie wasn't about to tell Dulce that. She didn't want Dulce thinking there was something going on between her and Francis.

"No way," Dulce said, plopping down next to Maggie and noticing the unsold stuff. "Business slow today? Adalia not around?"

When Adalia was there, Maggie's business always picked up.

"Adalia's still a kid. She can't be with me every day. My mom's off work today and took her to the amusement park," Maggie explained. "Other kids get to go to amusement parks or on trips during holidays. I don't have the time to take Adalia, and I feel pretty guilty about it."

Balancing work and spending time with kids was a real struggle for parents.

"The weather's been great lately. Let's plan a weekend outing with Adalia," Dulce suggested, then remembered something. "By the way, Isabella hasn't been to my store in over a month. Any idea what's up with her?"

Maggie shrugged, "No clue. Haven't talked to her."

Dulce sensed something was off. "What's going on with you two? You sound different. Did you have a fight?"

"Yeah," Maggie said softly, not wanting to get into it.

Dulce was curious. "What happened? How did you two fall out?"

Maggie knew Dulce wouldn't let it go.

Maggie hesitated, then said, "She admitted she likes Fiorello."

Dulce cursed, "She’s got some nerve. Couldn't she find anyone better? How could she like Fiorello? What was she thinking?"

Maggie still couldn't wrap her head around Isabella liking Fiorello. If it was just a crush, she could deal with it.

But Isabella had crossed the line.

Isabella had an agenda. Now, Maggie couldn't tell if anything Isabella said was genuine or just a ploy to get close to Fiorello.

What made it worse was that Isabella had bad intentions towards her.

Maggie said, "It's all in the past. I don't want to talk about her anymore."

"She's not worth it. It's like inviting a wolf into your home," Dulce said. "You really got unlucky."

Maggie didn't want to see or talk about Isabella, but Isabella showed up anyway.

As she was chatting with Dulce, Isabella suddenly appeared in front of her.

"Maggie, I need to talk to you," Isabella said, looking tormented and showing up without thinking.

Dulce immediately snapped, "Shameless. How dare you come looking for Maggie."

Isabella looked at Maggie. "Can we talk somewhere else?"

Maggie's eyes were cold as she stared at Isabella. Seeing her reminded Maggie of how Isabella had deliberately stalled during her most critical moment.

Maggie was filled with intense hatred. "Isabella, leave. Don't make me hit you right here."
