Chapter 439 Distract the enemy
Fiorello looked serious; losing the goods was a big deal. If they missed the delivery deadline, the compensation would be huge.
When they signed the contract, the other party had added the compensation clause.
Now, it seemed like this project might have been a setup from the start.
Holden had personally signed off on this order.
Fiorello tapped his finger on the table, quickly forming a plan. "Tell Holden to come too. Investigate the client's background thoroughly. Don't miss a single clue. Source the goods from competitors, even if it costs more."
William got the message. "Mr. Flores, do you think this is a trap?"
Fiorello shot him a sharp look. "You've been with me for years. Don't ask stupid questions now."
William's heart skipped a beat. "Yes, Mr. Flores, I'll get on it."
Maggie overheard from the study door. After William left, she walked in. "Is this serious? You have an 8 o'clock flight. I'll pack your bags."
"Maggie," Fiorello said, grabbing her hand and looking at her belly. "I might be gone for a few days. Stay home and take care of yourself. Don't go out unless necessary. If you need to go somewhere, wait for me. Don't overeat, and tell me if you feel any discomfort."
Fiorello was really worried about Maggie. As her belly grew, he was concerned she couldn't handle the stress. But the factory's situation was urgent. If not handled properly, it could affect many lives and Visionary Futures.
Holden had been set up. The compensation for late delivery was five times the order amount, plus extra profit. Such a ridiculous clause made Fiorello want to punch Holden. How could he not see through such an obvious trap?
Maggie smiled at him. "Don't worry, the baby and I will wait for you at home. I won't go out and will take good care of myself. Ariel and Mom are here, so don't worry."
She didn't want to be a burden to Fiorello's career.
Fiorello hugged Maggie. "Wait for me at home."
"Okay."
Maggie smiled and packed Fiorello's luggage.
When Adalia heard Fiorello was going on a business trip, she didn't want him to go and begged to come along.
Fiorello promised her, "I'm going for work. When I come back, I'll bring you a gift. What do you want? I'll get it for you. Be good at home, don't upset Mommy, and take care of her. Can you do that?"
"Daddy, I don't want a gift. I want you to come back soon." Adalia, very attached to Fiorello, hugged him. "Daddy, come back soon."
"Okay." Fiorello smiled and patted her head.
Maggie had packed his bags, and the driver was waiting outside. Holden, having been notified, rushed to Sunset Hills.
When Holden saw Fiorello, he didn't dare speak. He knew he was in big trouble and kept his head down.
Fiorello glanced at him, his voice cold. "What are you standing there for? Get in the car."
Holden didn't dare speak and obediently got in the car, greeting Maggie, "Maggie, I'm leaving now."
"Okay." Maggie, standing on the porch steps with Adalia, saw them off. "Be safe. Send me a message when you arrive."
Fiorello, sitting in the car, looked at the pregnant Maggie with gentle eyes. "It's windy outside. Go back in."
The driver started the car, heading to the airport.
Maggie couldn't bear to go back inside and watched the car disappear before returning indoors.
Fiorello's departure from Cyberland was quickly known by Gregory and Jenny.
A hint of smugness flashed in Jenny's eyes. This was a good opportunity. She immediately called Kimberly. "Fiorello is on a business trip."
