Chapter 729 The Feeling of Despair
Maggie felt a chill all over her body, her limbs cold.
She couldn't imagine how she would live if something happened to Fiorello.
She had a feeling of despair.
The news of the collapse at Flames Village spread quickly online, and the fact that Fiorello, the CEO of Visionary Futures Group, was on the list of the missing also spread rapidly.
The Cyberland community was abuzz with discussions, speculating whether Fiorello was among the casualties.
Holden and Gregory both came to Sunset Hills, worried about Maggie after hearing the news.
Gregory was more concerned about whether something had happened to Fiorello.
Joseph also rushed to Sunset Hills, and the family discussed going to Flames Village to look for him.
For now, it was just a disappearance, not confirmed, and no one wanted to believe it.
Arya came back to the hotel after work and turned pale upon hearing about Fiorello's accident.
If something happened to Fiorello, what would Maggie do? What about the three kids?
With elderly parents and young children, what would this family do?
While everyone was discussing, Arya noticed Maggie was missing: "Where's Maggie? Eleanor, have you seen Maggie?"
Only then did everyone realize that Maggie had disappeared at some point.
Arya immediately called Maggie, who was already on her way to Flames Village with Saskia.
Maggie had bought a last-minute ticket to San Diego; she was going to find Fiorello.
Upon learning that Maggie had gone to San Diego, Eleanor insisted on going too: "Holden, buy a ticket quickly, I need to go find Fiorello, hurry."
Joseph said, "I'm going too."
Eleanor replied, "What are you going for? You're still sick. If something happens to you over there, no one will be able to take care of you."
At this point, Joseph couldn't hide it anymore: "I'm not sick. I lied to you before. If I hadn't said that, you wouldn't have moved back home."
"Joseph, you liar," Eleanor said angrily. "How dare you lie about something like that. I'm going to find Fiorello now, and I'll deal with you when I get back."
Then Eleanor turned to Arya and said, "Maggie, please take care of the two kids at home."
Arya understood the seriousness of the situation and said, "Don't worry, leave the house to me. Eleanor, don't be anxious. Maybe everything is fine. William and Brian are both okay, Fiorello will be fine too."
"Okay," Eleanor could only hope for the best.
After making arrangements, the Flores family immediately set off for San Diego.
Joseph, Holden, and Eleanor went together.
Gregory naturally didn't go; he was only there to confirm if something had happened to Fiorello. With so many people already worried, there was no need for him to do anything.
By this time, Maggie had already arrived at the airport and was going through security, preparing to board the plane.
Dulce called Maggie after seeing the news: "Maggie, I saw the news about the collapse at Flames Village. Have you contacted Fiorello? How is he?"
"I can't reach him. I'm on my way to San Diego now, about to board the plane. I'll talk to you later." Maggie appeared calm on the surface, but her mind was in turmoil.
She felt dazed the entire way, her hands cold, her heart uneasy.
She didn't know what she would face on this trip—whether she would find him or see a cold corpse.
Maggie both anticipated and feared arriving at Flames Village in San Diego; she was afraid something had happened to Fiorello.
From Cyberland to San Diego, and then to Flames Village, Maggie arrived in the early hours of the morning.
She rented a car and drove to the hospital herself to get information.
Brian and William were both in the hospital.
The hospital was overcrowded, with injured people from the collapse being brought in, many family members arriving, and news reporters filming and following up on the latest developments.
William was seriously injured, with car glass piercing his calf, and could only lie in bed.
Brian had multiple fractures and severe injuries, unable to move.
They couldn't withstand the natural disaster.
The collapse happened in an instant. When the driver saw the mudslide coming down, he accelerated into the tunnel, and then nearly ten feet of the tunnel entrance collapsed.
So the rescue was extremely difficult.
Upon entering the hospital, there were sounds of injured people in pain everywhere, or scenes of family members crying over the bodies of their deceased loved ones.
Maggie asked Brian, "Was Fiorello in the same car as you when the accident happened? You were all brought here, so where is he?"
"Fiorello wasn't in the same car as us. He was in the front car. We set off in two cars. William, a driver, and I were in one car, and Fiorello, two bodyguards, and a driver were in the front car," Brian said regretfully. "I should have been in the same car as Fiorello. I switched to the back car because of something when we set off."
In other words, Brian and William didn't know the situation of Fiorello's car.
Maggie asked urgently, "Was Fiorello's car still in front of you at that time? Did they enter the tunnel?"
