Chapter 619 Finding Jenny

Wendy, who lost her husband, found her salvation in Francis.

During the most difficult time of her life, Francis extended a helping hand to her and her daughter. She knew why Francis took such good care of them, but she didn't mind and was very content with the current situation.

She never blamed Francis, but she also believed that Francis should be responsible for her and her daughter's future.

Francis took a cab back to the police station.

A colleague saw him coming in so late and asked, "Francis, it's not your shift today. Why are you here?"

"Jenny's case. I suddenly remembered something and came to check some files," Francis made up an excuse. He definitely couldn't say that Wendy was staying at his place.

Almost everyone at the station knew Wendy.

If they found out that Wendy was involved with him, it would be a real mess.

"Francis, your dedication is truly admirable," the colleague said. "Do you need help organizing the files on Jenny's case? I'm on duty tonight and have nothing to do."

"No need, you can go take a nap in the duty room. I'll handle it myself," Francis said as he entered the archive room.

Francis took out all the files on Jenny killing Kimberly and reviewed them, as well as the surveillance footage of Jenny escaping from the hospital.

Jenny had been missing for months, which was indeed strange.

Francis was sure that someone was helping Jenny. The police had been monitoring Kevin's side and found that Jenny hadn't contacted Kevin at all during this time.

As Francis was going through the files, he suddenly heard a noise outside.

"Miss Quixote, what brings you here so late? Don't tell me you have an appointment with Francis," it was the voice of the colleague from earlier.

Dulce was here?

"I left my bag at the station this afternoon and came to get it. Is Francis here too?"

"Yeah, he's in the archive room, said he was looking into Jenny's case."

Francis walked out of the archive room and saw Dulce chatting with the colleague in the hallway.

Seeing Francis, the colleague tactfully walked away.

Dulce approached Francis, "Did you find any clues?"

Anything related to Maggie always caught Dulce's attention.

"No, I was just bored and decided to review the hospital surveillance footage," Francis said as he took the files and footage back to his office.

Dulce followed, "Francis, do you think it's possible that Jenny fled abroad? You're so capable, yet you haven't caught Jenny after all this time."

Francis glanced at Dulce, "Why don't you try?"

"Don't be so defensive. It's true, Jenny has been on the run for so long, and you still haven't caught her."

"Jenny has someone helping her," Francis interrupted Dulce. "It's unlikely that Jenny fled abroad. I do have a way to lure her out, but it's a bit risky."

"What way?" Dulce was immediately interested.

"Who does Jenny hate the most?"

"Maggie," Dulce realized. "You want to use Maggie as bait? Francis, that's a bit heartless. Maggie is pregnant; she can't be used as bait."

"Maggie is pregnant?" Francis didn't know that.

Dulce said, "Anyway, that's definitely not an option. Is this how you police handle cases? It's too unreliable."

Francis frowned, "I was just saying."

Francis's gaze fell on the surveillance footage, and he suddenly noticed something unusual, his expression immediately tensed.

Dulce noticed his expression and curiously leaned in to look, "Did you find something?"

Dulce was a bit excited and leaned in so close that when Francis turned to say something, their noses almost touched, and their lips were just a breath away from meeting.

It was the first time they had been so close, feeling each other's breath so clearly. Time and space seemed to freeze at that moment.

Their eyes met, and it felt like something was breaking through the surface of their hearts.

Dulce's heart tightened, her eyes shifted, and her face quickly turned red. She hurriedly straightened up.

Francis's heart also raced, but he maintained his composure, cleared his throat, and said seriously, "When Jenny escaped from the hospital, she probably didn't leave by car but walked out."

"Walked out?" Dulce asked.

"Look here," Francis pointed to a pregnant woman in the footage. Because it was nighttime, the footage was blurry, but it was clear enough to see a pregnant woman being helped out of the hospital by a man.

The pregnant woman didn't deliberately hide her face, but she avoided the camera, so only her profile was visible.

Francis said, "When Jenny escaped, everyone's first reaction was that she must have left by car, in a very secretive manner. We checked all the vehicles coming and going and identified several suspect vehicles, but they were all ruled out. We overlooked the possibility that Jenny did the opposite and walked out the front door openly."

Dulce also looked at the footage. From the footage, it looked like a husband helping his pregnant wife out of the hospital. The security at the hospital entrance wasn't always watching everyone closely, so it was easy to overlook this.

Who would have thought that Jenny would be bold enough to walk out the front door so openly?
