Chapter 305 First Encounter with Melissa

Maggie, for a moment, did not know what to say.

She felt deep sorrow, having been betrayed by her own father.

Holden asked, "Maggie, why did you ask me to investigate these things?"

Maggie gave a self-deprecating smile and said, "Do you know why Mark tricked me into coming to London?"

Holden inquired, "Why?"

Maggie shrugged. "Melissa and I share the same father but different mothers, so there's a good chance we're a bone marrow match."

Holden cursed outright, "I can't believe a father would do such a thing. Maggie, since you know, let's pack up and head back to Cyberland immediately."

"If I don't come, how will I see Mark's true colors?" Maggie said nonchalantly, "It's fine; let's just play along with them. After all, if anything goes wrong, Fiorello will handle it."

Holden laughed. "Maggie, you're amazing. No matter what trouble you get into, Fiorello will cover for you. I haven't had such an exciting experience in years. Maggie, I'm suddenly a bit thrilled; this trip was worth it. If you need any help, just let me know."

Holden was someone who loved excitement and joining in the fun.

"I used to hang out with Fiorello a lot. No matter what trouble we got into, Fiorello would always handle it, and he would be the one getting scolded when we got home."

Maggie felt speechless.

Her remark was just a joke, but Holden took it seriously.

Maggie said, "You'll stay in this room tonight."

"Maggie, this isn't right." Holden misunderstood for a moment. "If Fiorello finds out we're staying in the same room, he'll kill me."

"What are you thinking?" Maggie glared at Holden. "I'm worried Mark might do something to me tonight. You stay in this room, and I'll stay next door."

Holden said, "Maggie, you're really like a sister-in-law."

Using him as bait.

Maggie smiled and patted Holden's shoulder. "I am your sister-in-law."

Holden gave an awkward smile. "Maggie, I really thank you."

"You're welcome," Maggie replied.

Holden felt sad.

Luxe Culinary Haven.

Eight o'clock in the evening.

Maggie and Arya were already waiting in the private room. Mark had ordered the dishes and kept checking his phone, explaining to Maggie for the fourth time.

"Maggie, just wait a bit longer. Your Aunt Ashley, Timothy, and Melissa will be here soon. They're stuck in traffic, and Melissa isn't in good health, so they're a bit late."

Arya was also worried that Maggie might be angry and that the relationship between Maggie and Mark might worsen, so she added, "Maggie if you're hungry, why don't you have some fruit first? They'll be here soon."

Maggie casually sipped her coffee and said, "No rush, we'll wait."

The calmer Maggie appeared the more suspicious Mark felt.

However, Arya took it seriously, thinking Maggie was genuinely not angry or in a hurry, and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Maggie said nothing; she just played with her phone and calmly drank her coffee.

Mark had managed to completely change Arya's attitude in a short time, and she always spoke in his favor, which was a skill.

Although Maggie felt uncomfortable, she was helpless.

Maggie was chatting with Fiorello on Facebook.

Fiorello: [Honey, have you eaten?]

Maggie: [No, still waiting for someone.]

Fiorello: [Holden told me some things. Be careful and call me if you need anything.]

Seeing Fiorello's message, Maggie felt much better, and a slight smile appeared on her lips.

Seeing Maggie smile, Mark, trying to get closer to her, asked deliberately, "Maggie, do you want to order anything else?"

"No need."Maggie had no intention of eating. The food was already getting cold, and Ashley hadn't arrived yet. Maggie knew it was intentional on Ashley's part.

Maggie found it quite amusing that they wanted her to save Melissa while also trying to assert their authority.

She really didn't know what they were thinking.

Just as she finished speaking, the door to the private room opened, and Ashley's voice came in. "Sorry, we were stuck in traffic. Maggie, you aren't angry, are you? Melissa, Timothy, say hello to your sister, Maggie."

Maggie turned to look at the three people who had entered. Ashley was apologizing, but her expression showed no sign of remorse.

Ashley was holding a young woman who looked only slightly younger than Maggie, probably just twenty years old. Due to chemotherapy, her hair was shaved off, and she wore a hat. Her face was pale, and she was extremely thin.

This was Melissa.

And the man beside Melissa was Timothy, who looked a lot like Mark.

That was the first time Maggie saw Melissa, a person so weak she seemed on the verge of death, evoking pity and sympathy.

At that time, Maggie did not know that this girl would become her greatest nightmare.
