Dulce believed that what Imogen said was true.
Which mother would want her son to marry such a woman?
Marrying Wendy would be like marrying the entire Holmes family, a whole family's burden.
Dulce asked, "Imogen, does Francis know you came to see me?"
"No, he doesn't. I found out and came here myself," Imogen replied honestly. "This time I came to Cyberland to take care of Francis. Actually, he never tells me or his dad when he's hurt. This time, he called me after he was discharged from the hospital. Do you know why?"
Dulce asked, "Why?"
"To avoid Wendy," Imogen said clearly. "Today, Wendy took another ten thousand dollars from Francis. Over the years, she must have taken hundreds of thousands. Back then, if Wendy's husband hadn't taken the bullet, Francis would have been fine. Francis was wearing a bulletproof vest. I knew Wendy's husband before; he was a weak man. One is Wendy, who is average-looking, divorced, and has a child. The other is Dulce, who is young, beautiful, and capable. I would definitely choose Dulce as my daughter-in-law."
Imogen wasn't afraid of being called realistic. Marriage couldn't be based on pity.
Francis asked, "What did she say when you saw her?"
"We had a great chat. Look, she even gave me so many things. I invited her to come home for New Year's. Whether you can bring her to the countryside is up to you," Imogen said. "I've helped you. If you miss out on Dulce because of Wendy, I won't let you off."
Francis didn't want to miss out on Dulce either.
"Doesn't she have a date?"
"What date? I asked her employees at the store. Dulce is single," Imogen said. "She must have lied to you. Girls care about their pride. Francis, you're a man. You're decisive and efficient in handling cases. Why are you so clueless when it comes to relationships?"
Knowing Dulce was single made Francis much happier. He really was clueless; how could he not see that?
Dulce was just being stubborn. How could he take it seriously?
Francis immediately went to his room to call Dulce.
Night fell.
In San Diego, the temperature had suddenly dropped in recent days, bone-chilling cold.
Fiorello returned to the hotel late after a busy day. William said, "Mr. Flores, tomorrow you will visit the factory of Sunrise Industries with Charles. The factory is in a place called Flames Village. Flames Village has introduced many factories. It will take an hour and a half to get there from the hotel."
"Okay," Fiorello rubbed his temples. "Everyone is tired. You should all go rest."
William and Brian went to rest to prepare for tomorrow.
Fiorello saw a missed call from Maggie and called her back.
Coincidentally, Melissa was staying in the room below Fiorello's.
