Chapter 399 Both Paternity Test Results Were Out
Maggie couldn't keep secrets and always spoke her mind; otherwise, it made everyone uneasy.
Fiorello gently patted Adalia's back and looked at Maggie. "What's up?"
Maggie hesitated. "Today, my mom saw a birthmark on Adalia's head."
"Adalia has a birthmark?" Fiorello checked and saw it. "It's shaped like a peach."
Maggie continued, "My mom said the child I lost years ago had a peach-shaped birthmark too."
Fiorello got it. "Is Adalia your daughter?"
"Maybe," Maggie said. "I did a DNA test with Adalia. Results come out tomorrow. If she's my daughter, then you..."
Fiorello finished her thought, "Are you worried I won't accept Adalia?"
"Yes," Maggie admitted. "Adopting Adalia and her being my daughter are different."
Fiorello nodded. "It is different."
Maggie's heart tightened.
He added, "It's closer. If Adalia is your daughter, it's a good thing."
Maggie was speechless, her eyes red. "Fiorello, you're always so understanding."
"As long as it's not a big deal, I can understand," Fiorello said. "No need to let small things hurt our relationship."
Maggie was silent. Fiorello was so clear-headed.
Looking at sleeping Adalia and Fiorello, Maggie felt at ease and went to rest.
The next day, Maggie worried about the test results.
They came out at nine in the morning, two sets arriving almost simultaneously.
Maggie couldn't go to the testing center, so Fiorello asked Brian to pick it up.
Maggie went to the hospital for the other set. She didn't look at it until Brian brought the other result.
Maggie handed one set to Fiorello. "You look at this one."
Fiorello took it. "Okay."
Both were nervous, opening the reports slowly. Fiorello saw the result first.
Maggie saw hers too but couldn't feel happy.
She looked at Fiorello. "The result shows Emily is my daughter."
Before, Maggie would have been happy, but now she felt disappointed.
She hoped Adalia was her daughter. Adalia had been with her for a long time, and there were feelings, while Emily was distant.
Fiorello placed his report on the table. "The result shows you and Adalia are biological mother and daughter."
"What?" Maggie thought she misheard.
She quickly checked the report. Two different reports, same outcome.
"This is impossible. I didn't give birth to twins. There must be a mistake."
The result seemed like a joke.
