Chapter 735 Fell Ill

Fiorello naturally had no impression of the cleaner.

Before he could speak, Melissa smiled at the cleaner and said, "We've already checked out, you can clean now."

Melissa didn't understand what the cleaner meant either; she thought the cleaner was just asking if he could clean the room she had stayed in.

After saying this, Melissa pushed the wheelchair and left with Fiorello.

The cleaner watched them walk away, a bit confused, and muttered to himself, "Isn't this gentleman staying upstairs?"

The cleaner didn't think much of it and cleaned the room Melissa had checked out of, then went upstairs to clean the room Fiorello had booked.

Fiorello had booked the room for a month and hadn't checked out yet.

William and Brian were also in the hospital, and no one had returned to the hotel in the past few days.

The cleaner couldn't open the door, rang the doorbell, and got no response, so he left.

Maggie drove to the downstream area, where the riverbank was crowded with people, all local villagers.

They had heard that a body was found by the river and came to see the commotion.

The rescue team retrieved the body, but due to the long time in the water, it was stiff, swollen, and unrecognizable.

Maggie stumbled over and saw it was a female body, not Fiorello. She felt a sense of relief but also a wave of sorrow.

In the past two days, she had seen too many bodies, too many separations of life and death.

Saskia said, "Maggie, it's not Mr. Flores."

"I saw." Maggie's face was pale. She looked around at the vast distance, feeling endless sorrow, and whispered, "Fiorello, where are you? Where on earth are you?"

She couldn't find him.

If he were alive, it had been two days; he should have contacted her by now.

The people in the tunnel had been cleared out, the road buried by the mudslide had been cleared, and there were still four missing people unaccounted for.

Maggie thought back to her moments with Fiorello, her eyes gradually welling up with tears.

They had been through so much, finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. They had two lovely children. Why was God playing such a cruel joke on her?

Maggie slowly squatted on the grass, staring at the flowing river, her heart aching.

Saskia knew Maggie was in pain but didn't know how to comfort her.

"Maggie, let's go back to the hotel first?" Saskia advised, "The wind is strong by the river, and you haven't rested for two days and nights. If you keep this up, Mr. Flores hasn't been found yet, and you won't be able to hold on."

"It's okay, I can hold on." Maggie tried to force a smile, her eyes determined, "Fiorello is still waiting for me to find him. Maybe he's waiting for me somewhere. I won't fall."

Despite the exhaustion and worry of the past two days, Maggie's whole body ached, and she felt very uncomfortable, but she gritted her teeth and persisted.

Eleanor and Joseph had already collapsed; she couldn't fall.

Holden and his team were also out every day looking for Fiorello.

For the next week.

Maggie and Holden searched for Fiorello every day, rushing to any place where there was news to confirm.

So far, there were still two missing persons unaccounted for, and Fiorello was one of them.

With no news of Fiorello, the sadness and exhaustion finally took their toll, and Maggie collapsed.

That day, she and Saskia had split up to search in a village downstream. Suddenly, her vision went black, and she felt dizzy, collapsing to the ground.

Before completely losing consciousness, Maggie saw a familiar figure rushing towards her, calling her name, "Maggie, Maggie."

The figure was blurry, and Maggie tried to open her eyes to see clearly but couldn't.

She was too tired.

Maggie gradually lost consciousness.

"Maggie, Maggie." Ivan called Maggie's name several times, but there was no response. He quickly picked her up and rushed her to the hospital.

Ivan, under Kyle's orders, had returned to San Diego to confirm if Fiorello was dead. He had been there for a few days, secretly following Maggie.

Seeing Maggie faint, he finally appeared.

Maggie had a high fever, was delirious, her whole body ached, and she kept calling Fiorello's name.
