Chapter 475 A Tacit Understanding

Hearing about the execution or a twenty-year sentence, Arya felt dizzy and almost fainted.

Lost in worry and sadness, Arya didn't notice a small figure crouching on the stairs.

Adalia had been crouching there for a long time, hearing everything Olivia and Arya said. The words of murder, sentencing and execution were enough for five-year-old Adalia to understand what was happening.

She thought, 'Mom is in trouble, Mom is going to be executed, she would die.'

Adalia, scared, hugged her stuffed toy tightly and slipped out through the side door while Arya wasn't paying attention. She was going to find Fiorello to save Maggie.

The murder case of Kimberly caused a great stir outside. Maggie couldn't know how many people genuinely cared or were just pretending to be concerned.

Fiorello had made special arrangements, so Maggie's treatment in the police station was quite good. She had a private room, heating, and even a soft bed.

Maggie leaned against the headboard, looking up at the ceiling, unusually calm. She didn't defend herself and quietly awaited the verdict.

Her heart, which had been restless for so long, found peace at this moment. She had avenged her kid and had no regrets.

"Maggie, someone is here to see you," the guard called from outside, and then the iron door was opened.

Maggie turned her head and saw Dulce rushing in and hugging her tightly. "Maggie, how could you be so foolish? You scared me extremely. It's not worth it to lose your life over Mrs. Kimberly Flores."

Maggie didn't expect Dulce to be the second person to visit her.

Dulce only had ten minutes of visiting time, and that was after signing papers and paying money to get in.

Maggie squeezed out a smile. "I thought I wouldn't see you again. Seeing you before I die makes it worth it."

"Don't say such foolish things. I won't let you die. I'll get the best lawyer for you, Maggie," Dulce said, holding Maggie tightly, full of reluctance and worry. "Maggie, I'll go to visit the Flores family later. I'll beg Fiorello. He loves you so much; he won't let anything happen to you. This whole thing is the Flores family's fault in the first place. They are the ones who make the mistake."

Maggie smiled. "Dulce, I'm not afraid of death. Since coming in here, I feel much more at peace. I don't have to suffer anymore. I've avenged my kid, and I feel very content."

"But you're only twenty-six. You're so young. If something happens to you, what about Arya and Adalia? What will they do? Have you thought about that?" Dulce scolded angrily, "How could you be so foolish? You shouldn't have done it yourself. Even hiring someone would have been better than doing it yourself."

To say such things in a police station, that was a true friend.

This was a criminal mindset. If the people in the police station heard it, they would have to give Dulce a verbal warning.

Maggie looked at the tearful Dulce and raised her hand to wipe Dulce's tears. "Don't cry. You won't look pretty if you cry. You call me foolish, but aren't you the same? You've been deceived by men so many times and still haven't learned. After I'm gone, you must remember not to trust men easily. Keep your money safe and don't spend too much on men. As for my mom and Adalia..."

Mentioning Arya and Adalia, Maggie's voice choked up. "If I'm gone or in prison for decades, Dulce, please help me take care of my mom and Adalia."

Dulce cried. "I won't help you take care of them. They're your mom and daughter; you take care of them. I want you to be my best friend for life. I'm telling you, don't think of the worst-case scenarios. Even if I have to spend everything, I'll get you out. The Flores family owes you a son. If they dare to sue you, I'll sue them for you. I'll go to Fiorello and ask if he has a conscience."

Maggie held Dulce's hand and said, "Dulce, don't go to him. He's more heartbroken than anyone. Don't push him."

"Even now, you're thinking about him. Where is he? What did he say? Has he come?"

Maggie nodded, a lump forming in her throat. "He has come. He said he would find a way to get me out, but I don't want him to do that. From the moment I decided to kill Mrs. Kimberly Flores, I knew it was over between us. Saving me won't be easy for him; it will make him lose everyone."

"You're foolish." Dulce didn't understand Maggie's thoughts; she just wanted Maggie to be safe.

Maggie gave a bitter smile and said nothing. She leaned against the cold wall, thinking that everything should end here.
