Chapter 110 Decided to Investigate the Lost Memory

Maggie came out of the kitchen. "What can't be kept a secret?" Maggie's sudden voice startled both Dulcinea and Arya, making them nervous, unsure of how to respond.

Seeing their anxious expressions, Maggie asked, "Dulce, Mom, are you hiding something from me? I just heard you talking about Samwise. What does Samwise know? What can't be kept a secret anymore?"

Arya was at a loss, and Dulcinea's mind raced. "Uh, that, I was talking about Samwise's family bankruptcy, which can't be kept a secret anymore. Now all our old classmates know."

This answer was somewhat farfetched.

Maggie stared at the two of them, both Arya and Dulcinea appearing somewhat guilty, their eyes flickering.

Maggie said, "I just heard you say that Samwise knows something about me. What is it?"

Dulcinea hemmed and hawed, "Um..."

"I want to hear the truth." Maggie felt uneasy. "Dulce, Mom, what are you hiding from me?"

Maggie recalled the recent medical examination. At that time, Dulcinea had been as flustered as she was now, seeming to be hiding something.

Arya chuckled. "What could we possibly hide from you? We were just cooking pig‘s feet soup in the pressure cooker. Why didn't you keep an eye on it?"

Arya was trying to change the topic.

Maggie looked at Dulcinea again, and Dulcinea just smiled. "It's true. There really is nothing to hide, just like I said earlier."

Seeing that neither of them was telling the truth, Maggie's suspicions deepened.

"Is it related to the memories I've forgotten?" Maggie persisted. "If you don't tell me, I'll go find Samwise."

Upon hearing this, Dulcinea and Arya became even more flustered.

Arya scolded, "No, you can't go. What do you want with that scum? We've both told you, there's nothing. What else do you want to ask? The pig’s feet soup is still stewing in the pot. Maggie, you go wash the vegetables. Dulce, stay for dinner tonight."

Arya rarely spoke so sternly.

Maggie frowned. She knew that things were not simple, but she stopped pressing further, not wanting to hurt her mother’s feelings.

She also knew that Dulcinea’s lips were sealed tightly; she would not say anything either.

As for Samwise, Maggie didn't trust him either. Even if there was something, it would be distorted coming from Samwise's mouth.

To unravel the mystery of her lost memories, she could only rely on herself.

Maggie turned and went to the kitchen to wash the vegetables, while Arya and Dulcinea exchanged a glance, their hearts not at ease in the slightest.

During this dinner, each of them harbored their own concerns, and the atmosphere was somewhat eerie.

After dinner, Maggie packed some pig‘s feet soup in a thermos for Fiorello to take home.

Maggie walked out of the neighborhood with Dulcinea, who seemed to want to say something several times, but in the end, she said nothing.

When Maggie returned home, it was already nine o'clock at night.

She only turned on a night light and curled up on the sofa with a cushion, staring blankly out the window, not knowing what she was thinking.

She didn't know what could make Arya and Dulcinea conspire to hide something from her.

And now, she began to doubt whether her depression years ago had truly been caused by Samwise or the public opinion about plagiarism in school.

She felt that she had good resilience to pressure, so how did she reach the point of suffering from depression, and even to the extent of forgetting a part of her memory?

Maggie fell into deep thought. The night was cool as water, terrifyingly silent. She immersed herself in her own thoughts, not even aware of when Fiorello returned. It wasn't until Fiorello walked up to her and called her name that she snapped out of her reverie.

"Maggie, what's wrong? Are you upset?"

A deep and mellow voice sounded above her head. Maggie looked up and saw Fiorello. Overwhelmed with emotions, she suddenly hugged him.

She held onto him without saying a word, taking in his familiar scent, finding solace in his presence.

Fiorello thought Maggie was upset about being expelled. He smiled and gently patted her head, then sat down next to her, magically pulling out a gift box from behind.

"This is for you. Open it and take a look."

Maggie looked at the gift and asked, "Why are you giving me another gift? You're spending money recklessly."

"I bought it with my bonus," Fiorello replied with a gentle gaze. "You worked hard this morning."

At his words, Maggie instantly blushed and joked, "Why do I feel like I'm being rewarded by the emperor after serving him?"
