Chapter 281 In a Frenzy

Isabella's throw missed, which was fortunate. If it had hit, it would have constituted assault. The police were still watching.

The ashtray hit the wall and fell to the ground. James, realizing what had happened, looked at the ashtray on the floor and shouted, "Isabella, are you crazy?"

"Yes, I am crazy! Your whole family has driven me insane," Isabella screamed. "You people are despicable. You tricked me into coming here, saying you agreed to the divorce, but instead, you drugged me and set up this whole trap. You all make me sick."

Her outburst stunned everyone in the room. Olivia and Frank stood up, enraged, to defend their daughter.

"You treat my daughter like this? This is outrageous!" Frank shouted, his anger palpable as he started to throw anything he could get his hands on.

The Anderson family elders quickly tried to stop him.

"Don't break that; we paid for it."

"Isabella had an affair, and now you're blaming us? Ask her if she wasn't already involved with this guy."

Olivia snapped back, "You bloodsuckers! Your son used my daughter to get his position at the hospital, and while he was keeping a mistress, now you want to take our family home too. You’re shameless."

The shouting escalated until it turned into a physical fight.

Even the police couldn't stop them. Isabella and James started fighting, too, and Maggie quickly stepped in to pull Isabella away to prevent her from getting hurt.

The scene was chaotic, and even Brandon, standing in the corner, was dumbfounded, watching the drama unfold.

Both families unleashed months of pent-up anger.

Half an hour later, everyone, including Brandon, was taken to the police station.

Maggie sat in the station's lobby, waiting. She had been accidentally injured while trying to break up the fight, and her waist still hurt from hitting a table.

This was a family matter, not a crime. The police advised both families to calm down and meditate before releasing them.

As the Anderson family left, Ava spat at Isabella's feet. "Shameless."

Isabella glared at Ava with anger.

James also left a harsh remark. "You want a divorce? It's not going to be that easy."

With this incident, the Andersons had leverage over Isabella, demanding her family's properties in exchange for the divorce. James's goal was the three houses owned by Isabella's family.

After the Anderson family left, Olivia, heartbroken for her daughter, said, "Isabella, as long as you can get a divorce, agree to whatever James asks. I just want you to get away from that family as soon as possible."

Frank remained silent, unable to swallow his anger.

Isabella, unwilling to give in, said, "We can't let them get away with this. There's no reason to give them anything. I won't give them the houses."

Frank agreed, "Our daughter is right. They were in the wrong first, and now they're playing dirty. We can't compromise. We'll fight this in court, and we'll be there with you every step of the way."

Maggie, too, thought she wouldn't easily concede if she were in Isabella’s shoes.
Eight years of marriage, and now being bullied back in the divorce—no one could tolerate that.

"Thanks, Dad," Isabella said, seeming more mature and composed after the incident. "Dad, Mom, you should go home. I need to talk to Maggie."

With Maggie by her side, they felt reassured.

As Olivia left, she reminded Maggie, "Maggie, you two are sisters. Stay with Isabella and support her."

Olivia used to look down on Maggie, but after everything that had happened, her attitude had improved a lot.

Maggie said, "You can go home. I'll stay with Isabella."

After seeing them off, Isabella limped over to a flower bed next to the police station and sat down. She asked, "Do you have a cigarette?"
