Chapter 663 Francis Doesn't Dare to See Dulce
Wendy covered herself with a quilt, looking shy and stammering, "Francis, you drank too much, pulled me, and then... I don't blame you, it was my choice."
Francis's face turned extremely grim. How could he have done such a terrible thing?
With his mind in a mess, Francis hit his forehead and said, "Wendy, I'm going back now. I'm really sorry about tonight."
He wished he could kill himself for having slept with Edward's wife.
Francis got dressed, picked up his phone, and left at three in the morning.
Wendy wanted to say something but didn't.
Actually, Francis hadn't done anything, but the effect she wanted was already achieved.
As long as Francis misunderstood that something happened between them, with his personality, he wouldn't shirk responsibility.
Francis sat in his car downstairs for a long time. He saw a message from Dulce but no missed calls; the call log had been deleted.
Wendy had checked Francis's phone messages and marked the Facebook messages as unread.
Seeing Dulce's message, Francis felt a turmoil of emotions and lit a cigarette.
No matter how tonight's events unfolded, they had happened. For the sake of the deceased Edward, he couldn't shirk responsibility.
Francis regretfully hit the steering wheel twice and took a deep drag on his cigarette.
He didn't get home until almost dawn.
He didn't know how to face Dulce, so he just replied, "Busy."
Dulce, who had waited all night for a message, felt a bit emotional receiving such a reply.
Thinking about Francis's special and dangerous job, Dulce forgave him and replied, "Get some rest. Remember the weekend; my mom wants to meet you."
Francis didn't dare to meet Dulce's parents. Some things, once done, couldn't be undone.
Using his busy schedule as an excuse, Francis postponed the meeting.
In the following days.
Francis didn't dare to see Dulce, feeling too ashamed. Wendy kept messaging him every day, asking if he would come back for dinner.
Francis knew Wendy was waiting for an explanation.
Francis was now in a dilemma. He had to give Wendy an explanation but didn't want to hurt Dulce.
Francis buried himself in work, making it hard for Dulce to see him.
Sunset Hills.
Maggie was painting with Adalia when Dulce arrived and immediately started talking about Francis.
"I don't know what's going on with Francis lately. It's like he's deliberately avoiding me. I can't find him even when I go to the police station," Dulce said. "He promised to meet my mom this weekend but postponed it again."
Maggie found it strange, "That shouldn't be. You two just started dating. If Francis doesn't take time to deepen the relationship, what is he doing?"
"I find it strange too. He often doesn't answer my calls or reply to my messages," Dulce said angrily, just as Fiorello came in from outside. She asked, "Fiorello, are all men like this? Do they stop cherishing you once they have you? How long does the novelty last?"
He walked over to Maggie and put an arm around her, "I've always found Maggie to be fresh and exciting."
Maggie laughed.
Dulce said, "Fiorello, analyze this for me from a man's perspective. Why is Francis ignoring me lately?"
Dulce really wanted to know why.
Fiorello glanced at Maggie, who smiled and said, "Help her analyze it, or she'll go crazy."
Fiorello thought for a moment and said, "Either he's really busy, or he's afraid to see you. Given how recently you started dating, the chances of him being tired of you are low, so it's probably the second reason."
"Why would he be afraid?" Dulce wondered aloud. "Did he do something to betray me?"
It was just a casual remark, but Dulce thought it might actually be possible.
