Chapter 515 Too Many Guilty Deeds
Fiorello really hated feeling like someone had him in their sights, especially when he couldn't do anything about it.
It was like an invisible hand was squeezing his neck, making him super cautious.
Visionary Futures Group had been around for years, naturally racking up a bunch of competitors. This time, Fiorello had no clue who was gunning for him.
When Maggie got back to the apartment, Arya wasn't home. She called and found out Arya was at work.
It was lunchtime, so Maggie whipped up something quick and got back to making jewelry. She had to set up her stall tonight.
Thinking about the wild night with Fiorello, Maggie felt amazing and ready to tackle anything.
Fiorello had a way of totally affecting her mood.
At 4:30 PM, Maggie went to pick up Adalia from school. As usual, they had dinner and then went to set up the stall.
Maggie set up the stall while Adalia did her homework nearby. She had a ton of it today.
Adalia looked up and saw Fiorello's interview on the big screen in the plaza. She shouted, "Mom, it's Dad."
Maggie followed Adalia's gaze and saw Fiorello wearing a mask, being interviewed on the LED screen in the plaza.
Maggie chuckled. She thought he was kidding about the mask this morning, but Fiorello actually wore it.
After the interview, the reporter asked, "Mr. Flores, why the mask? Are you sick?"
Fiorello faced the camera and said, "My face is too handsome. I'm worried too many people will fall for me and cause a fuss."
The reporter was speechless.
The viewers in front of their TVs were speechless too.
If anyone else had said that, it would've sounded cocky. But coming from Fiorello, it was just the truth. The guy had the looks to back it up.
Fiorello was indeed a looker. He definitely turned heads.
Maggie laughed, and Adalia laughed too. "Dad really knows how to brag."
Adalia never changed how she called him. To her, Fiorello was always Dad.
Maggie smiled and agreed, "He sure does."
"Mom, when I went to get a burger the other day, I saw Dad in the restaurant. He was just sitting there, watching us." Adalia pointed to the restaurant across the street.
Maggie glanced over and remembered Fiorello saying he was passing by last night. She couldn't help but smile.
Adalia said, "Mom, I miss Dad."
She used to be scared to mention Fiorello in front of Maggie. Arya said it would make Maggie sad.
But Adalia missed him a lot.
Maggie said, "Next time, I'll take you to see your dad. But this is our secret, don't tell anyone."
"Really?" Adalia was super happy.
Soulful Harbor Cafe.
Isabella was also watching the interview on TV. She used to look forward to seeing Fiorello's face on TV, but now with the mask, she couldn't see it.
Hearing what Fiorello said, Isabella felt like he was talking about her.
Isabella felt uneasy. The cafe had no business today. She didn't know why, but suddenly business had tanked. They only sold ten cups of coffee today.
At this rate, the cafe wouldn't last long.
Her intentions were now well-known. Relatives gossiped behind her back, saying she was shameless for trying to cling to Fiorello despite being divorced.
She lacked the courage to confront Maggie, and she was afraid that Maggie would find out it was her deliberate delay that caused Maggie's miscarriage.
Isabella was anxious all day, and so was Jenny.
Ever since she met Maggie at the cake shop, Jenny felt guilty and scared. Now, whenever she heard sirens on the street, she thought they were coming to arrest her.
At night, she didn't dare to sleep. Whenever she closed her eyes, she saw the scene of Kimberly's tragic death. The clothes drying on the windowsill, the fluttering curtains, or various items in the house would all scare her.
She didn't even dare to turn off the lights when she slept. She stayed home every day, not caring at all about the wedding with Gregory, which Kevin had handed over to the wedding planning company.
In the days that followed, Maggie often went to the apartment to meet Fiorello. Arya knew but didn't say anything.
Seeing the smile on Maggie's face, Arya felt relieved but also worried.
Maggie was not accepted by the Flores family.
Joyful events made people feel energized. One day, Dulce came to the street to find Maggie. Seeing her glowing and in good spirits, she curiously asked, "Maggie, are you in love? With Francis?"
