Chapter 552 Severing Family Ties
Maggie stood still for a moment, watching as Ivan staggered and quickly grabbed the wall to steady himself.
Even from a distance, Maggie could sense Ivan's suppressed pain.
How could there be such a strange person in this world? Injured but not going to the hospital, feeling unwell but not resting, and still running around everywhere.
Seeing that Ivan couldn't hold on any longer, Maggie walked over and supported him with both hands.
The sudden touch of soft hands made Ivan instinctively want to shake them off. Ivan was very guarded and didn't like people touching him.
But when he saw it was Maggie, Ivan was slightly taken aback.
Maggie said, "Let me help you to the sofa over there to rest."
Ivan didn't say anything and let Maggie assist him.
After sitting down, Ivan coughed a few times and said, "Thank you."
"You're welcome," Maggie said. "You should rest more if you're not feeling well. Don't wander around. By the way, have you taken care of your injury?"
Maggie's concern made Ivan a bit uncomfortable. "Yeah."
"That's good," Maggie casually asked. "What's your name? Do you have any family here? If you're injured, you should let your family take care of you."
Family?
Ivan found the word a bit ironic. "I don't have any family."
He didn't tell her his name either.
Ivan had come to London on orders specifically for Maggie.
Maggie mistakenly thought Ivan was an orphan and didn't ask further. She glanced at the hotel entrance and saw Brian returning.
Maggie called out, "Brian."
Hearing Brian's name, Ivan turned to look and quickly pulled down his hat, turning away discreetly.
Maggie walked over, and Brian said, "Maggie, what are you doing here?"
"I just had a meeting with Mr. Ramirez. Why are you back so late?"
"Fiorello asked me to run some errands." Brian had visited many clinics but found no clues.
It was getting late. Maggie glanced back at the spot where Ivan had been, but he was gone.
Maggie didn't pay much attention and went upstairs with Brian.
The next day.
At dawn, Arya called Maggie, asking if the Jackson family had sent Mark over and if they would still send him.
Maggie reassured Arya, telling her to be patient.
Around eleven in the morning, the Jackson family arrived.
Maggie had guessed right; it was Timothy who came.
Timothy brought a few subordinates and carried Mark on a stretcher. He also got a lawyer from the Jackson Group's legal department, which had a strong background.
Maggie asked Fiorello to leave the room for a while. Everyone knew they were divorced, and she didn't want to involve Fiorello.
Brian stayed behind to help if needed and to add some presence.
The first thing Timothy said after placing Mark down was, "We've brought him. Where's the agreement?"
He really didn't waste any words.
The immobile Mark felt a bit disheartened.
Arya quickly checked if Mark was uncomfortable anywhere, and Maggie signaled to Mr. Ramirez.
Mr. Ramirez placed everything prepared on the table. "Everything is here."
Timothy hurriedly grabbed the share agreement and the heir declaration, checking them immediately.
Seeing the agreement's content, Timothy realized that in Mark's eyes, he and Melissa really didn't matter.
Timothy glanced at the stroke-stricken Mark and sneered, "Dad, both Melissa and I call you Dad. Even if it's not an equal share, you can't leave everything to an illegitimate daughter. Where does that leave Melissa and me?"
Mark blinked, seemingly wanting to say something.
But who could understand?
"Stop with the sentimental talk. The choice has been made, so there's no need for these hypocritical words," Maggie said calmly. "There's also a supplementary agreement here. Please sign it. From today, you hand Dad over to me, and his future care will be my responsibility. You have no right to interfere."
"Are you asking me to sever my father-son relationship with Dad?" Timothy said angrily. "That's impossible, Maggie. You have a heart of stone."
