Chapter 498 Isabella is Here

Fiorello casually waved at the waiter, wanting to cover Adalia's bill. But before he could, Adalia told the cashier, "I'll just take one less burger then."

"Sure thing," the cashier replied.

Adalia paid, grabbed her receipt, and sat down nearby, looking pretty pleased with herself.

Fiorello kept his eyes on Adalia. The waiter came over and asked, "Need anything, sir?"

The waiter seemed confused. Fiorello had waved her over but hadn't said what he wanted.

The waiter's voice made Adalia look up, and she spotted Fiorello right away, even with his mask on.

That was her dad, after all. She could recognize him anywhere.

Adalia was in shock. Since she and Maggie moved to the new place, Fiorello hadn't visited them once.

Arya had told her that her parents were divorced and to never mention Fiorello in front of Maggie. Adalia had followed that rule without question.

Seeing Fiorello after all these months made Adalia happy, but she was also in disbelief.

They just stared at each other. Fiorello was scared Adalia would recognize him, but also scared she wouldn't.

The cashier called out, "Little girl, your food's ready."

Adalia got up, grabbed her stuff, and pretended not to recognize Fiorello. She headed downstairs with her food.

At the stairway, she couldn't help but glance back before continuing down.

That look made Fiorello's heart ache. He felt a tightness in his chest.

Adalia used to depend on him so much, but now, even though she was so close, he couldn't hear her call him "Dad" anymore.

As Adalia went downstairs, her eyes welled up, but she held back her tears.

She hid at the stairway to calm down, then carried her burger and fries to find Maggie. In front of Maggie, she was still the cheerful little girl.

"Mom, I got you some hot milk. Have a sip. And here's a burger, all for you. I'll just have the fries and soda."

Maggie smiled. "I'll just drink the milk. You eat the rest. But don't tell Grandma when we get back, or she'll be upset again."

Arya didn't allow Adalia to eat fried foods outside.

Adalia's eyes sparkled with a smile. "Okay, it's our secret."

Adalia happily started eating. She didn't tell Maggie that she had just seen Fiorello.

While munching on fries, Adalia glanced at the restaurant across the street. Fiorello was no longer by the window; he had already left.

Adalia felt a bit disappointed and regretted not saying hi to Fiorello earlier.

Fiorello had left, and after he did, Francis showed up to find Maggie.

Seeing Francis, Maggie eagerly asked, "Any progress?"

Francis had been secretly investigating Kimberly's case for months without any luck.

"Not yet," Francis said. "I was passing by and thought I'd check if you were still here. It's getting late, why aren't you heading home? Adalia has school tomorrow."

"I'll pack up soon," Maggie said, a bit disappointed.

Jenny was pregnant and doing well. They couldn't alarm her, and there was no evidence or motive to prove Jenny had committed murder. A mere suspicion wasn't enough.

Adalia sweetly called out, "Francis."

"Hey there," Francis responded. "I have some free time. I'll help you pack up and take you home."

Francis often came to see Maggie and sometimes helped her set up and pack up her stall.

With Francis around, no thugs dared to mess with Maggie.

Fiorello drove back to Sunset Hills.

Since getting out of the hospital, he hadn't returned to the Flores Mansion.

This was the place he considered home.

As he parked the car and was about to enter the house, a familiar voice called out, "Mr. Flores, you're back."
