Chapter 506 Facial Expression Analysis
Isabella could've just driven straight through.
The road to the hospital was clear, and if she had driven fast, she would've been there in just over ten minutes. Instead, Isabella chose the route with the traffic accident, arriving almost forty minutes late.
Maggie sat there, shaking like a leaf. She was glued to the surveillance footage, too upset to even talk.
"I trusted her so much. Why would she do this?" Maggie muttered, maybe to Francis, maybe just to herself.
She couldn't wrap her head around why Isabella would do something so messed up. Not only did she lose her baby that day, but she almost died too.
Isabella knew she was in bad shape but still chose a route that would take forever.
Tears rolled down her cheeks. Maggie just couldn't get it. 'Is it because Isabella likes Fiorello? Likes him enough to not care about my life?'
Isabella had once promised to treat her like a sister.
Francis paused the footage and zoomed in. The image was super blurry. He glanced at Maggie and said, "Even if you sue Isabella, it'll just be a civil case for compensation. These things drag on for months, maybe even half a year. Plus, Isabella can totally deny knowing the right side was jammed. She's got questionable morals, but there's not enough evidence for a crime."
Maggie wiped her face and looked at Francis. "Can you copy this footage for me?"
Francis asked, "Have you decided what to do?"
Maggie shook her head. "No, my mind's a mess right now. It's my own stupidity that hurt my baby."
Francis wanted to say something comforting but couldn't find the words.
He copied the footage and sent it to her phone. "It's late. You should go home and rest."
Maggie knew she wouldn't sleep tonight. She asked, "Any updates on the person you were watching?"
Francis had some leads, but given Maggie's state, it wasn't the right time.
"Go home and rest first. Don't worry about the rest. Jenny's pregnant. Even if there's solid evidence, she won't face immediate consequences. Be patient and wait." Francis was being objective and rational, just an observer in all this.
Besides Francis, Fiorello was also waiting.
Fiorello had his own suspicions about Kimberly's death.
After Kimberly was buried and things settled down, Fiorello went back to check the mall's surveillance footage where Kimberly had her accident.
He watched it over and over and noticed that after Maggie ran out of the restroom, Jenny went in right after. But when Jenny saw Kimberly in trouble, she didn't come out for help right away.
The footage showed Jenny coming out for help nearly five minutes after she first went in.
What was Jenny doing during those five minutes?
If Kimberly had died right then, Jenny's first reaction should've been to get help immediately. The time difference should've been no more than two minutes.
So, Kimberly probably wasn't dead at that moment. What went down between Kimberly and Jenny in those few minutes in the restroom?
By the time the driver arrived, Kimberly was already dead.
When Fiorello got there, he saw a corpse.
At that moment, Fiorello didn't think Jenny would've delivered a fatal blow. He was just questioning what happened during those few minutes of blank time.
Kimberly adored Jenny and trusted her. Jenny also flattered Kimberly. Jenny shouldn't have wanted Kimberly dead. Fiorello couldn't figure out Jenny's motive and was stuck in a loop.
Just then, there was a commotion downstairs.
Fiorello went down to see Holden bringing in a guy. "Fiorello, I found the guy you were looking for. This is Caleb, a student who's great at facial analysis. He's studying criminal psychology at the university and is an honor student."
