Chapter 417 Suspicion Arises

If the kid wasn't a Flores, it couldn't stay.

Kimberly looked at Maggie with love, especially when she glanced at Maggie's belly. She hid her affection well.

Maggie glanced at Fiorello, seeking his opinion.

Since marrying into the Flores family, she hadn't spent a proper night there.

Seeing Kimberly really wanted Maggie to stay, Fiorello nodded. "Alright, Maggie and I will stay tonight."

Kimberly happily asked the maid to make the bed.

Holden said, "Fiorello, Maggie, Grandma hasn't been this happy in a while. You should move back in and liven up the place."

Fiorello changed the subject. "When are you bringing a girlfriend home? That would make it livelier."

Holden laughed. "Why talk about me? I'm not as lucky as Fiorello to have a great wife like Maggie. I'm off to bed before I get too jealous."

After Holden left, Kimberly smiled at Maggie. "Pregnant women should walk more; it's good for delivery. You've eaten a lot, so stand up and walk around."

Kimberly's words seemed to be for Maggie and the baby's good.

Maggie smiled lightly. "Alright, Fiorello and I walk in the yard after meals."

"That's good," Kimberly said. "More exercise, more rest."

Kimberly's sudden concern made Maggie uneasy.

She didn't know why, but Kimberly's smiling face made her uncomfortable.

Tonight, Kimberly's concern seemed excessive.

Maggie didn't show it, thinking she might be overthinking.

Fiorello took Maggie for a walk in the yard. Maggie glanced at Eleanor's room on the second floor.

The light was on, and she could faintly hear Joseph and Eleanor talking.

Joseph's voice was loud. Maggie looked at Fiorello. "Are Eleanor and Joseph arguing?"

Fiorello said, "Don't worry about it. If they can argue, it's better."

Maggie was at a loss for words. "No one wants their parents to argue."

Fiorello said, "Mom's been holding in her anger for months. If she doesn't let it out, there will always be conflicts."

It's hard to get over a husband's affair and an illegitimate child.

Thinking they had a loving marriage, only to find out it was a lie—no one could accept that.

Maggie didn't say much, not wanting to comment.

After walking in the yard, Maggie and Fiorello went back to their room.

During her pregnancy, Maggie's feet swelled, and she needed to soak them in hot water at night. Fiorello prepared a basin of hot water for her. The door was open, and Kimberly saw Fiorello washing Maggie's feet, gripping her cane tightly.

Fiorello had never served anyone like this, let alone wash a woman's feet. It seemed inappropriate.

Maggie was used to it, her face beaming with happiness. The happier she looked, the more uncomfortable Kimberly felt.

Fiorello noticed Kimberly. "Grandma, why aren't you asleep yet?"

Seeing Kimberly, Maggie quickly pulled her feet out, feeling a bit embarrassed, afraid Kimberly would feel uncomfortable.

"I'm going to bed now," Kimberly quickly changed her expression to a loving one and smiled. "Pregnant feet tend to swell. Fiorello, Maggie's pregnancy isn't easy; take good care of her."

Fiorello responded, "Alright."

He also felt Kimberly's change was too drastic, a bit unreal.

Kimberly hobbled back to her room with her cane. After Maggie finished soaking her feet, Fiorello took the water to pour it out.

Maggie thought about Kimberly's words earlier, feeling even more uneasy. 'Even if Kimberly cares about her great-grandchild, seeing Fiorello washing my feet, she couldn't possibly still be smiling. This is too abnormal. Is this really the same Kimberly who used to call me a vixen at every turn?' she pondered.
