Chapter 561 Striving for Love Once

Olivia, fearing that Adalia's screams would attract attention, quickly scolded her, "What are you yelling for? I saw a bug in your hair and was trying to help you get it out. You don't appreciate good intentions. Anyone who doesn't know might think I did something to you."

Olivia had pulled out a large chunk of hair, leaving Adalia's scalp red and causing her to cry uncontrollably from the pain.

"Adalia, what's wrong?" Maggie's voice came from upstairs.

Feeling guilty, Olivia quickly left without saying a word.

She ran fast.

By the time Maggie came downstairs, Olivia was already gone.

"Adalia, why are you crying?" Maggie walked over, both concerned and anxious.

"Mom, it hurts," Adalia said, holding her head.

Maggie moved Adalia's hand and was shocked, "What happened? Who did this?"

Adalia's scalp was visibly red and missing some hair.

Crying, Adalia said, "It was Olivia. Olivia said she was catching a bug, but it hurt so much."

Seeing that Olivia was gone, Maggie was both angry and puzzled. What exactly did Olivia come here for?

"Mom will disinfect it for you. It'll be better soon."

Maggie first took Adalia to treat her injury. Afterward, she went to find Arya to ask what Olivia had come for.

Arya said, "She just came to complain, saying things about Isabella and Frank, crying very sadly. She's also a pitiful person."

Maggie asked, "Didn't she say anything else?"

"No," Arya was curious, "Maggie, what's wrong?"

"Nothing," Maggie couldn't guess what Olivia was up to.

Arya hesitated and said, "Maggie, you've set the date for your wedding with Fiorello. Mom wants to ask you, are you really sure about this?"

Arya felt uneasy. Having experienced a failed marriage before, she felt things might not go smoothly this time either.

The main issue was the significant difference in social status between the two families.

Maggie walked to the window and looked at the drizzle outside, saying wistfully, "Mom, the closer the wedding gets, the more uneasy I feel. The unequal social status does make me feel somewhat inferior, but I love him. If I miss out on him, I know I'll never find another man I love who loves me back."

Maggie's feelings were very complicated. After the wedding date was set, Eleanor had come to discuss the wedding details with her, showing respect in every aspect.

This made Maggie feel very ashamed.

Arya looked at Maggie and sighed, "Maggie, Mom hopes you will be happy. I used to think that being well-matched in social status was very important. But sometimes, even if the families are well-matched, it doesn't guarantee harmony. Mom will always be your support, and we have nothing to fear."

"Mom," Maggie smiled, "By the way, I'm going to find Dulce to deliver the invitation personally."

Even though she had made electronic invitations, Maggie still wanted to deliver the invitation and a gift to Dulce personally.

Dulce was the only one worth her personally delivering the invitation to.

The rain stopped after a while, and it was already dark.

Maggie drove to Dulce's place. She had the fingerprint code to Dulce's house and could go in directly.

After entering, Maggie called out, "Dulce? Dulce?"

Maggie put down her things and went to the bedroom, where the door was being opened.

Dulce, wrapped in a blanket and holding a stick, was fully armed.

Maggie was surprised, "Dulce, what are you doing?"

"I thought it was a burglar," Dulce patted her chest and said, "You scared me to death. Don't even mention it. Francis took me to solve a case recently, a whole family was murdered. I've been having nightmares every day."

"What family murder case?" Maggie said, "If you're scared, don't go with him. It's not safe for a girl like you."

Dulce, still wrapped in the blanket, sat cross-legged on the sofa and said, "Speaking of the family murder case, it was really tragic and pitiful. The intestines were all over the place. I was so disgusted I couldn't eat. Guess who the murderer was? It was the daughter of the family. She was so ruthless, she killed everyone with an axe. She didn't escape either and died. At first, the police couldn't find the murderer. Who would have thought the murderer was also dead among them?"
