Chapter 507 New Developments in the Case

Holden had no clue why Fiorello wanted him to track down this guy, but orders were orders, so he went ahead and did it.

Caleb Perry, a clean-cut, good-looking college kid, was just twenty-two and about to graduate.

Caleb nodded at Fiorello. "Mr. Flores, you called for me. What's up?"

"You're good at reading faces and studying criminal minds. Take a wild guess why I called you here," Fiorello said, settling into the sofa and motioning for Caleb to sit too.

Caleb crossed his hands and sat down casually, eyeing Fiorello. "Alright, if you want me to guess, here goes. You called me because of the Mrs. Flores murder case from a few months back. You’ve got doubts about it."

Holden was floored. He had no idea Fiorello had any doubts about Kimberly's case. He turned to Fiorello and asked, "Fiorello, is there something off about Grandma's case? Didn't Maggie already confess?"

Fiorello ignored Holden and looked at Caleb with a hint of admiration. "Yeah, I have doubts. Let's see if you can clear them up. Money's not an issue."

Caleb grinned. "Mr. Flores, you're the richest guy in Cyberland. Your connections are worth more than cash. If I can help, just hook me up with a job after I graduate. That'll do."

Fiorello tapped his finger on the back of his hand, smiling slightly. "You're pretty bold."

Caleb was the first person to ask him for a job like that.

Holden listened, feeling a bit frustrated that he couldn't keep up with their conversation.

Caleb humbly said, "Mr. Flores, you're too kind."

Fiorello stood up and pulled a stack of photos from a drawer. "These are from the crime scene when my grandmother was murdered. Take a look and see if you find anything."

The photos showed Kimberly's tragic death, her expressions, movements, and the scene.

Caleb put on his glasses, spread the photos out on the table, and started analyzing them carefully.

Once Caleb got into it, he seemed oblivious to everything else. When he needed something, he'd casually ask, "Got a flashlight? The lighting's kinda dim."

Fiorello handed him a flashlight without a word.

Caleb took the flashlight and studied the photos closely. He finally picked up a photo of Kimberly's death, illuminated it with the flashlight, and examined it.

Holden could barely look at the photos. When Kimberly died, her chest was covered in blood, her mouth slightly open, and her eyes closed. It was pretty disturbing.

Fiorello didn't interrupt Caleb and waited for his findings.

Caleb stared at the photo and said, "Mrs. Flores' eyes didn't close naturally; someone closed them afterward. The corners of her mouth are slightly crooked, and her face is twisted. This shows anger and surprise. She must've been shocked and caught off guard when the killer attacked."

Holden said, "My grandma probably didn't expect Maggie to attack her. She was shocked. Isn't that normal? The autopsy report said the same thing. Nothing special about it."

"Yeah, nothing special about that, but this part is weird." Caleb put down the photo and pointed to Kimberly's bent hand in the picture. "Mrs. Flores was stabbed in the chest, and there's blood on her hand. She was holding her chest before she died, which is normal. But why was her hand reaching out when she died, with her fingers bent like she was trying to grab something or call for help? Who was she calling for help from? The killer?"

Caleb's words hit Fiorello hard. He suddenly remembered the scene when he first entered the bathroom and saw Kimberly's body. Jenny was crying beside her, and he noticed bloodstains on Jenny's ankle, which were finger marks.

Fiorello's face darkened, becoming frighteningly cold. "Jenny was the first to find the body. When she went in, Grandma should've still been alive."

Caleb adjusted his glasses and smiled. "Mr. Flores, you're very sharp."
