Chapter 176 A Pregnancy Test
Only a short time had passed since Sam's disappearance. Therefore, the news of Sam's imprisonment naturally shocked Maggie.
Dulce vaguely said, "I'm not sure either. I heard from other classmates that it seems to be extortion, and he got reported."
"Extortion?" Maggie was surprised. "Who would he be extorting? He's a lawyer; how could he break the law?"
"Maggie, I really don't know much about it. I heard it from others."
Dulce said, "When I first heard about it, I was also surprised. How could he be so reckless? He's in jail, and Jane seems to have gone abroad; it all happened quite suddenly."
"Yes."
Maggie didn't ask any more questions, and she couldn't visit Sam in jail either.
She had no relationship with Sam anymore. If she went to visit him, it would be degrading to her.
But she vaguely felt that something was off.
She still remembered the last time Dulce hurriedly found her mother, saying that Sam had found out her secret.
She had been thinking of finding Sam when she had time, but who would have guessed he'd end up in jail?
Dulce asked, "Maggie, how are you and Fiorello doing recently?"
Anyway, now that Sam was in jail, Dulce felt relieved.
Sam knew Maggie's secret and was a sneaky person, who might frame others at any time.
"Very well." The mere thought of the strong desire Fiorello showed toward her body overwhelmed Maggie, leaving her feeling as if she had lost all her strength.
"That's good." Dulce also felt relieved. She glanced at Maggie's belly and asked, "You guys haven't been using contraception lately, right?"
"What?" Maggie quickly reacted, lowering her voice in embarrassment. "N-no."
" Then is there good news coming soon? Let me tell you first, if you have a child, you must let me be his godmother."
"Of course." Maggie awkwardly touched her neck and whispered, "My period hasn’t come this month, and it has been a week."
"Are you pregnant?" Dulce was extremely excited. "Fiorello is quite amazing."
Maggie gestured shyly for Dulce to lower her voice. "There are so many people in the store; I just said my period hasn’t come. I haven't confirmed yet."
"I see. Take your time. After you finish your food, I'll take you to buy a pregnancy test kit, and then you'll know the result for sure."
Dulce really hoped Maggie was pregnant. If they had a child, her marriage with Fiorello would be even more solid.
Even if one day Maggie's secret was exposed, there wouldn't be too much to worry about.
Maggie had a good appetite, and all signs pointed to her being pregnant. She even felt like she was nurturing a little life inside her belly. Subconsciously, Maggie avoided foods that weren't good for pregnant women.
After spending over an hour at the barbecue restaurant, Dulce took Maggie to the nearby pharmacy to buy a pregnancy test kit.
Maggie felt a bit nervous. She was worried it might be a false alarm. She felt too embarrassed to buy it herself. Every time they passed the shelf with the test kits, she hesitated, and in the end, she walked past without reaching out to get one.
Dulce was getting impatient. She grabbed a box of pregnancy test kits and went to the counter to pay.
Dulce handed the purchased test kit to Maggie. "Go to the mall restroom and test it."
Maggie chuckled. "Patience. People might misunderstand our relationship."
"I wish we were, but I have to say I can’t make you pregnant."
Maggie was speechless.
"Hurry up," Dulce urged Maggie.
Maggie also wanted to know. If it turned out to be true, it would just work like the icing on an already delicious cake.
She knew Fiorello also wanted a child. If they had a child, they would definitely be happier.
Maggie went to the restroom in the nearby mall, sat on the toilet, and followed the steps to use the pregnancy test stick.
