Chapter 336 Do You Have A Boyfriend
Fiorello didn't engage in a debate with Kimberly. Instead, in a low, commanding tone, he instructed, "Holden, stick around with Grandma for a bit. Bart from the Hars Group just arrived. I need to greet him."
Grinning, Holden replied, "No sweat, Fiorello. I got Grandma covered."
Fiorello seized the opportunity to excuse himself, and Holden, flashing a smile at Kimberly, suggested, "Hey Grandma, feeling peckish? How about a slice of cake?"
Kimberly's expression darkened. "The doctor said no sweets, and I'm not hungry. You don't need to stay with me. Fiorello already found an excuse to leave. Now that I'm old, my words don't matter anymore. You can go too."
Holden intervened gently, linking arms with her. "Don't be upset, Grandma. It's the company's anniversary, and Fiorello's swamped. How about I ring Dad to keep you company?"
Holden didn't dare call Eleanor. Everyone in the family knew Kimberly didn't get along with her.
To be precise, Kimberly didn't like Eleanor as a daughter-in-law.
When Eleanor gave birth to Fiorello, they had fallen apart, and Eleanor almost had divorced Joseph.
Kimberly didn't like Eleanor, but she was genuinely good to her two grandsons, which was why both Fiorello and Holden respected her.
"I don't want to see your dad; just looking at him makes me angry," Kimberly said. "I've been living in the countryside all these years just to avoid him."
Actually, it wasn't that Kimberly had no interest in seeing Joseph; it was Eleanor she wished to avoid, and this fact was not lost on Holden.
"Grandma, then I'll hang out with you," Holden offered, flashing a smile. "Hey Grandma, it's been a minute, and gotta say, you're looking even more stunning."
Kimberly beamed and playfully tapped Holden's hand. "You little troublemaker, always know how to bring a smile to my face. If you manage to find a partner for yourself, I'll be over the moon."
Holden chuckled. "I'll make sure to round up a whole squad of spouses so they can all spoil you."
"A squad? You rascal." Kimberly teased, casting a playful glance at the young women at the gathering. "Plenty of gems here tonight, Holden; maybe help Fiorello track down one too."
Holden rubbed the back of his head. "Grandma, Fiorello's off the market. You're mixing things up again. I just mentioned Maggie's chilling in the lounge, and you'll meet her soon."
Kimberly fixed Holden with a pointed look. "A marriage ain't official without a proper ceremony. Fiorello's so-called 'tied knot' doesn't count."
Holden chuckled. "Grandma, nowadays, it's all about that marriage certificate. Fiorello and Maggie have already got theirs sorted."
"I'm saying it doesn't count, so it doesn't," Kimberly retorted, her expression hardening. "If she aims to join the family, it can't be that simple. Without my nod, it's null and void."
Sighing at Kimberly's unwavering stance, Holden understood why her feud with Eleanor had endured for two decades.
"Grandma, swaying Fiorello this time around won't be a walk in the park," Holden remarked. "Maggie's actually pretty decent, Grandma."
"You go on, I can manage on my own," Kimberly dismissed Holden. Unable to contend with Kimberly's resolve, Holden mingled with the guests.
Just as Holden departed, Jenny stepped forward. "Grandma, remember me? It's Jenny."
Kimberly looked closely. "I remember now. You're Kevin's daughter, right?"
"Yes, Mrs. Flores, you still remember me," Jenny said with a smile as she sat down next to Kimberly. "Kimberly, your memory is still so good, and you look so young."
Kimberly looked at Jenny carefully, satisfied. "You are so beautiful. Jenny, do you have a boyfriend?"
