Chapter 610 Refusing to Go to the Police Station and Confess Everything
Fiorello immediately headed to Isabella and James' wedding house. Isabella couldn't have gone to that house for no reason, especially after the fallout with James. She couldn't be there to reminisce.
There was only one possibility: Adalia was in that house.
Brian turned the car around and headed back to the apartment they had just left.
Isabella, having shaken off Fiorello, didn't feel completely at ease. She knew she was being watched and would be discovered sooner or later.
Isabella no longer had any attachment to this world.
Isabella drove back home. Olivia was cooking and, seeing Isabella return, said, "You're back, Isabella. Take a rest; dinner will be ready soon. I made your favorite, roasted ribs. Call your dad and ask when he'll be home."
Olivia had bought a lot of groceries, all of Isabella's favorites.
Isabella watched Olivia busy in the kitchen for a long time before saying a single word, "Okay."
Isabella agreed but didn't call Frank.
"Here are some strawberries I just bought. They're big and sweet," Olivia said, handing the washed strawberries to Isabella with a smile. "Eat more fruit; it's good for your skin."
Isabella used to love eating fruit. It was good for her skin, and she loved beauty. The house was always stocked with fresh, imported fruit.
"Okay." Isabella took a strawberry. She knew she was in big trouble, and such warmth might not be there in the future.
Isabella ate a strawberry. At that moment, Frank came home, also bringing snacks that Isabella liked.
Olivia finished cooking, and the family sat down to eat. Isabella took out a bank card from her bag and explained, "Dad, Mom, the money from the coffee shop sale is all here, along with what I've saved over the years and what I got from James. There's a total of four hundred thousand dollars. The password is the last six digits of the card number. This other card has the money left from selling the house, two million dollars, enough for your retirement."
Seeing Isabella take out all the money, Olivia and Frank exchanged worried glances, sensing something was wrong.
Olivia asked, "Isabella, what are you doing?"
Frank also asked, "Is something wrong? Isabella, you're our only daughter. You can't do anything rash."
Frank was worried that Isabella might be contemplating suicide.
Isabella shook her head, looked around the house they were living in, and continued, "This house is 1,400 square feet and can sell for two million dollars in Cyberland. If you ever run out of money, sell this house and find a good nursing home. It will be enough."
Her tone was like she was giving her last instructions.
Olivia grabbed Isabella's hand. "Isabella, don't scare us. What's going on? Did the police really find out about that?"
Completely unaware, Frank asked, "What? What are you two hiding from me?"
Isabella nodded. "Fiorello found me. He will find Adalia sooner or later, and the police will come for me. I can't take care of you anymore. Dad, Mom, if I'm not around, take care of yourselves."
"Adalia?" Frank was incredulous. "Are you saying you took Adalia? Isabella, tell the truth, did you?"
At this point, Isabella had nothing to hide and nodded, "Yes."
"How could you be so foolish?" Frank's face changed immediately, and he stood up angrily. "Where is the child? Return her now. Mom and I will go to the police with you and confess everything. Maybe we can get a lighter sentence."
"We can't send Isabella to prison." Olivia stopped him, shouting at Frank, "How can you be so heartless? No father sends his own daughter to jail."
Saying this, Olivia tightly held Isabella's hand and said, "Isabella, leave now before the police come. I'll pack your things, and I'll go with you to escape abroad."
