Chapter 121 Extortion
As a devoted husband, Fiorello was waiting downstairs to pick up Maggie. The feeling of being picked up by her husband after work was comforting. Feeling joyful, Maggie told Fiorello on the phone, "I'm coming down right away."
After hanging up, Emily teased, "Your husband's here to pick you up? Your hubby's such a sweetheart. You're so lucky!"
Before, people who didn't know Maggie was married now all know. Maggie's stunning appearance made her female colleagues envious, and sometimes, women's envy was inexplicable. Now that her female colleagues knew Maggie was married, their hostility towards her lessened.
"Let's chat later, I'll head down first." Maggie smiled. "Tonight, he's taking me to meet his friends."
"Go ahead," Emily said enviously. " You are a spoiled woman." Maggie smiled and went downstairs after packing up her things.
Fiorello parked the Chevrolet on the side of the road again. Maggie felt delighted seeing the car and rushed over. As the saying goes, when you love someone, you run to them.
When Fiorello saw Maggie running towards him in the rearview mirror, he smiled and stepped out to open the car door for her. "Why the rush? Take it slow, don't fall," he said.
"I missed you." Maggie didn't hold back her affection for Fiorello and said, "Guess what? I dealt with Lily. I designed a necklace that impressed her. Selena was so green with envy." Maggie was really happy. She felt that everything had gone smoothly since she met Fiorello, and no matter how challenging, she could solve it smoothly. Today, she had triumphed, and she was ecstatic.
Fiorello hugged Maggie and kissed her. "My wife is the best. Here's a reward from your husband." With passersby around, Fiorello's display made Maggie blush and her heart race. She playfully hit his chest. "Let's get in quickly. If anyone we know sees us, they'll tease me."
Fiorello grinned and made a gentlemanly gesture. "My dear, please." Maggie giggled, got in the car, and puckered her lips. When people were in love, even the breeze felt sweet, Maggie felt it deeply.
As the car started, Maggie asked, "Where are we eating tonight? What is your friend's career? Am I dressed appropriately?"
Fiorello held her hand. "Relax. He's an old friend of mine. Just treat it like a casual dinner. Don't stress. You look beautiful today."
Maggie felt reassured and said happily, "Fiorello, you're my lucky charm. Since I met you, everything's been smooth sailing."
Fiorello chuckled. "I'll always have your back and make sure you have a smooth life." His words warmed Maggie’s heart.
Maggie was touched. She just stared at him blankly, as if she couldn't get enough of him no matter what. Fiorello let her look. While waiting at a traffic light, he halted the car and whispered in her ear, "Tonight, when we return home, I can undress so you can get a better look." Maggie was speechless.
"You're incorrigible." Maggie laughed and playfully punched him. "So, your refined gentleman act was just a facade."
When they first met, Fiorello seemed so proper. Who knew he had such humor and charm? Fiorello kissed her hand. "I'm just being honest."
As they chatted, they arrived at the restaurant without realizing it.
It was a discreet private eatery in the heart of Cyberland. The restaurant was elegantly decorated, with a subtle sense of sophistication and a touch of luxury.
Fiorello always took Maggie to upscale places. Initially, Maggie used to worry about the prices on the menu, but now she was cautious about stepping on the expensive floor tiles. Even a single tile in the restaurant was worth two thousand dollars. If Maggie were to break them, they would go bankrupt.
Maggie whispered to Fiorello, "Is this place funded by extortion? Why such expensive tiles? If we break them, we're done for."
Fiorello chuckled at her humor. Understanding her concern, he reassured her, "Don't worry. If you break them, it's the owner's responsibility. My friend's treating us tonight, so order whatever you like. Don't worry about money. My friend's loaded."
If Benjamin heard Fiorello, he would surely be offended, wondering if Fiorello was insulting him. Compared to Fiorello, who had assets worth twenty billion dollars, Benjamin indeed couldn't compare, even though Fiorello's billions were public knowledge, with many undisclosed assets. After all, as a businessman, who would flaunt all their wealth?
Riches were best kept hidden.
