Chapter 747 Killing the Chicken to Scare the Monkey

Maggie's appearance stunned everyone.

Holden didn't know Maggie had returned either; he was so busy yesterday that he hadn't gone back home.

Everyone thought Maggie was in San Diego crying every day, but here she was, dressed impeccably in a black women's suit, with her hair tied up, looking sharp and professional. Her aura and gaze bore a striking resemblance to Fiorello. As she walked in, everyone fell silent, as if they were seeing Fiorello return.

With Fiorello's incident, everyone now knew that Maggie was the rightful mistress of the company.

Who could imagine that a man with a twenty-billion-dollar fortune would actually give all his assets to his wife? It was simply crazy.

Fiorello was a man who loved his wife madly.

Maggie walked into the conference room, and Holden offered her a seat, pulling out a chair with both hands. "Maggie, please sit."

Maggie sat down, her gaze sweeping over everyone, and said coldly, "Seeing me here makes everyone so nervous and surprised? It seems you're not used to it yet. No worries, you'll see me at every weekly meeting from now on."

This conveyed a message: Maggie was back to take over the company.

Immediately, a senior executive from the sales department questioned, "Maggie, are you saying you want to join the company and take over as president?"

Maggie remained calm, "Mr. Johnson, do you have an issue?"

Before coming, Maggie had familiarized herself with the profiles of all the senior staff in the company. She recognized the person questioning her as Michael Johnson, the sales manager, who had been with the company for nearly twenty years since he graduated.

With Michael speaking up, the others decided to watch and see what would happen.

Michael's tone was somewhat disdainful as he smiled and said, "I heard Maggie only graduated from high school. Are you joking about managing a company with thousands of employees? When Fiorello was alive, he pampered you. Now that Fiorello is gone, if you cause any trouble, who will help you solve it? You can't gamble with the future of thousands of us."

Michael voiced what everyone was thinking, so no one refuted him; they were waiting to see how Maggie would respond.

Hearing this, Holden was furious. "Michael, speak respectfully to my sister-in-law."

Usually, Michael relied on his performance and long tenure to the point where even Holden couldn't suppress him, and he would occasionally make sarcastic remarks.

Michael didn't hold back, standing up and saying, "I'm stating facts. This is a serious matter, not a joke. We all have lives to live. I just want to know, what Maggie can do? Instead of staying home with the kids, why is she here causing trouble?"

Holden was about to lose his temper, but Maggie raised her hand to stop him. She calmly stared at Michael and spoke without giving him any face.

"Mr. Johnson, you've been with the company for eighteen years. Thank you for your contributions. You can now go to the finance department to settle your salary and leave."

Maggie's words shocked everyone. Michael's face turned ugly, and he found it unbelievable. He laughed and said, "Maggie, are you firing me? I have a labor contract with the company. I've made significant contributions. Ask everyone how many orders I've secured for the company. You, a high school graduate who knows nothing, want to fire me? Do you know what it takes to fire me?"

Maggie's gaze was sharp as she stared at Michael. "You know you have a labor contract with the company? I am the legal representative of this company. I have the right to fire anyone. According to the terms of the labor contract, whatever compensation you're owed, I'll pay. Fiorello may have had an incident, but Visionary Futures Group hasn't collapsed, and the Flores family hasn't fallen. Do you think the Flores family can't afford a million-dollar compensation? Do you think this large company will go bankrupt without you, Michael?"

Maggie stood up and slammed the table, showing her strong stance. She was using Michael as an example.

Maggie's gaze swept over everyone, and no one dared to meet her eyes.

"Anyone else who doesn't want to work here can speak up now. I want to see if I can't afford to compensate you." Maggie said firmly, "Those who follow the company, are loyal to the company, and contribute to the company, I, Maggie, will remember and never treat unfairly. But anyone who dares to cause trouble, take advantage of the situation, or sell company information, I will punish severely."
