Chapter 404 Staying Single

Kimberly was really in the know. Maggie and Fiorello hadn't even told the Flores about Adalia, so how did Kimberly find out so fast?

Maggie didn't have time to ponder and rushed back.

Her gut told her Jenny was involved.

Jenny just couldn't let her be.

At the hospital, Kimberly, egged on by Jenny, was sitting in the ward, staring at Adalia.

Adalia was scared and hid behind Dulce, avoiding Kimberly's gaze.

Even Dulce was a bit intimidated by Kimberly's sharp look.

Maggie hurried in. "Adalia."

She quickly checked on Adalia, relieved she was okay.

"Mom." Adalia felt safer seeing Maggie.

Dulce whispered to Maggie, "Mrs. Kimberly Flores is over there."

Maggie saw Kimberly right away. Taking a deep breath, she said, "Kimberly, let's talk outside."

"What? We can't talk here?" Kimberly leaned on her cane, looking stern. "Maggie, how did Fiorello end up with someone like you? You must've planned this. You knew Adalia was your daughter and tricked Fiorello into adopting her. Always scheming."

Jenny had been stirring the pot, making Kimberly even angrier and more suspicious of Maggie.

After leaving Gregory, Jenny had someone check the hospital and found out about the paternity test between Adalia and Maggie.

When she learned Adalia was Maggie's daughter, Jenny was thrilled. This was perfect for her.

Maggie was amazed by Kimberly's imagination.

"Kimberly, I didn't deceive Fiorello. Adalia is my daughter, and I just found out," Maggie explained calmly. "I swear it's true."

Arya chimed in, "Mrs. Kimberly Flores, Maggie's telling the truth. If you want to blame someone, blame me. I lost the child back then."

"You two are trying to fool me. Fiorello might believe you, but I don't," Kimberly insisted. "Maggie, you're too greedy. Just because you're pregnant, you want to push your daughter into our family, making us raise this bastard. That's not happening."

The term "bastard" made Maggie's expression harden. "Kimberly, I respect you as an elder, which is why I'm explaining. I understand your feelings, which is why I'm being kind. You can be mad at me, but don't talk about a child like that."

Dulce added, "Mrs. Kimberly Flores, you're a person of status. Calling someone an bastard is really low. It seems your family lacks manners. Maggie isn't trying to curry favor with your family. Fiorello and Maggie are together willingly. You're old, why can't you mind your own business? If you're bored, why not water some flowers or walk your dog? Don't meddle in young people's affairs."

"Shut up," Kimberly snapped, tapping her cane. "You young girl, you have no respect for elders. With such a bad temper, be careful you won't get married. If I were your future in-laws, I wouldn't want you."

Dulce shot back, "Whether I get married or not has nothing to do with you, Mrs. Kimberly Flores. I'm not marrying into your family. If any family had an old lady like you, I'd rather stay single for life than marry into it."
