Chapter 338 Infertility Issue Exposed
Kimberly marched determinedly onwards, heading to track down Maggie, but Jenny, looking petrified, hesitated to join her. She couldn't risk incurring Fiorello's wrath.
"Mrs. Flores, dinner's about to kick off. The turnout's huge tonight; let's not set Fiorello off. If he catches wind of me spilling the beans, he'll flip," Jenny fretted.
"I'll handle finding Maggie solo. Thanks, Jenny. Without your heads-up, everyone would've been fooled by her charade," Kimberly reassured. "No need to stress—I won't act impulsively. Fiorello's just mixed up. I'll straighten him out."
Kimberly aimed to mend tensions between Fiorello and Jenny; she couldn't afford for him to hold any grudges against her.
"Mrs. Flores, take a breather. Don't let it rile you up too much," Jenny said while keeping the suspense alive. "Once Fiorello spills the beans on Maggie's true identity today, it'll be game over."
"As long as I'm around, Maggie can kiss any hopes of marrying into the Flores crew goodbye. They're a bunch of clueless folks," Kimberly seethed.
As the stage lights intensified, a high-profile celebrity took the spotlight, signaling the commencement of the grand opening ceremony.
In the bustling audience, Fiorello and Joseph sat poised for the upcoming events. Per the program, post-ceremony, Fiorello, the head honcho at Visionary Futures, was slated to grace the stage with a speech.
This crucial moment meant Maggie's introduction into the limelight alongside Fiorello. Racing against time, Kimberly hastened to the lounge, intent on intercepting Maggie's grand entrance.
Observing Kimberly's swift departure, Eleanor grew anxious. Promptly instructing Arya to stay put with Adalia, she trailed after Kimberly with concern etched on her face.
In the hotel corridor, Eleanor caught up with Kimberly in stride.
"Mom, dinner's underway. Where are you headed?" Eleanor inquired, quickening her steps to lend support.
Over the years, Eleanor had always wanted to mend their relationship, but Kimberly didn't care.
Years ago, Kimberly had chosen a daughter-in-law, but Joseph insisted on marrying Eleanor, which displeased her. No matter what Eleanor did over the years, she was never satisfied.
"What I'm doing is none of your business," Kimberly said, glaring at Eleanor. "You failed as a mother, you have poor judgment in choosing a daughter-in-law, and you let that kind of woman marry into our family. I think you did it on purpose to get back at me."
Eleanor was baffled and asked, "Mom, what are you talking about? Are you talking about Maggie?"
"Don't play dumb with me," Kimberly snapped, "Do you know what kind of woman Fiorello is married to? Do you know her background?"
Eleanor smiled and replied, "I know, Mom. Maggie is a jewelry designer. She's very talented."
"You're still lying to me. I know Maggie didn't even go to college; she's a street vendor. The Flores family can find a better daughter-in-law than a vulgar woman like her," Kimberly said harshly, "Eleanor, you're not fit to be a mother."
Those words were serious.
Eleanor felt uncomfortable and said, "Mom, Maggie did sell things on the street, but that doesn't mean anything. The Flores family started by selling things on the street, too. Maggie is kind and smart, and she and Fiorello have a great relationship. The Flores family has already achieved its social status and doesn't need to rely on marriage alliances anymore. Letting Fiorello choose someone he likes is a good thing."
"You're still talking back to me?" Kimberly said angrily, "Maggie can't have children, which means the Flores family will have no heirs. Did you know that? Fiorello is confused and even lied that he's infertile. Do you know that? You're all fools."
"What?" Eleanor was shocked. "Maggie can't have children?"
Eleanor really hadn't known about this.
Kimberly glared at Eleanor and snapped, "Move aside. I'm going to find Maggie and make her leave Fiorello."
Kimberly pushed Eleanor aside and headed to the lounge.
Hearing the sound of Kimberly pushing open the lounge door, Eleanor didn't care about her harsh words anymore. Worried that the old lady might cause a scene, she quickly followed.
