Chapter 620 The Wrong Direction
Jenny escaped just like that.
Seeing the surveillance footage, Dulce couldn't help but curse, "She's too cunning. Francis, are you sure this is Jenny? Quickly pull up the surveillance footage from the hospital entrance."
The hospital surveillance footage from that time had already been retrieved. Even if it hadn't, it would only take a phone call for Francis to get it.
Francis immediately found the surveillance video from the hospital entrance and locked onto the 'young couple' leaving the hospital.
It was finally confirmed that the two had gotten into a taxi.
Francis's expression turned serious, "We've been looking in all the wrong directions. Who would have thought Jenny left in a taxi?"
The most dangerous way is often the safest.
It had been almost half a year since the incident. Now, retrieving information from the taxi company might be a bit difficult.
During the initial investigation, they hadn't even considered looking into ordinary people. Even after watching the surveillance footage many times, they hadn't noticed that this ordinary 'young couple' was actually Jenny, and the man helping her leave was her accomplice.
It was too late now. Even if they wanted to check the taxi company's information, they would have to wait until morning.
The next day.
At dawn, Francis personally went to the taxi company. Based on the surveillance footage, he found the taxi driver who had picked up Jenny.
Too much time had passed, and the driver had no memory of the passengers from that time.
Unfortunately, the car's dashcam was broken at the time and hadn't been repaired, so there was no record of where Jenny had gotten off.
To find out the route the taxi driver had taken, they would have to review the entire traffic surveillance system of Cyberland, which was a massive task.
Francis thought of a way to estimate the distance based on the fare on the taxi receipt.
There were transaction records.
Finally, Francis determined that after leaving the hospital, Jenny had gotten off the taxi about 30 miles away, heading south.
This made things much easier.
Amid a large amount of information, Francis pinpointed the last place Jenny had appeared.
Francis also called Maggie to inform her of the progress in the case.
Maggie was now focused on Adalia, spending every day at home with her, comforting her.
Fiorello was also busy with company matters, dealing with Holden's situation. Fiorello had spent a lot of money and used his connections to temporarily bail Holden out.
At the Flores Manor.
Holden was deeply remorseful, "Fiorello, I'm sorry, I messed up again. Christina was too cunning, and I got tricked by her."
Eleanor said, "As long as you're okay. Let me see, you've lost weight. I'll make sure to nourish you tomorrow."
Joseph scolded, "You're so stupid. You and Fiorello have the same mother, but Fiorello is better than you in every way. You're not even as good as Gregory. You let a woman trick you and got yourself thrown in jail. What were you thinking?"
It was the first time Joseph had scolded Holden like this. Holden knew he was in the wrong and kept his head down, not saying a word.
Eleanor glared at Joseph, "Holden finally came back, so say less. Holden is kind-hearted and naive; it's not his fault he got tricked."
"Kind-hearted? He's just stupid. How did I, Joseph, end up with a son like you? Thank goodness we have Fiorello in the family. If we had to rely on Holden, the Flores family would have gone bankrupt by now."
Fiorello, who had been sitting silently, suddenly spoke, "Holden, come with me to the study."
Fiorello's face didn't look good either. The hopes he had placed on Holden had been dashed.
Holden just wasn't cut out for business.
He couldn't rely on him anymore.
Being scolded by Joseph didn't bother Holden much, but seeing Fiorello's stern face made him scared.
Holden lowered his head and went to the study, ready to be scolded.
Fiorello sat on the couch, smoking, and asked in a deep voice, "Tell me what happened. How did you get tricked by that Christina? I met her once at the wedding. She works in medical equipment. I also investigated her background; she's just an ordinary college graduate who recently started working. There must be someone behind her guiding her. If I'm not mistaken, it should be Kyle. I warned you repeatedly to be careful."
Holden said, "Fiorello, Christina told me she needed money for her grandfather's surgery. I felt sorry for her, so I chose to cooperate with her company and let her earn the commission from the deal. As for the signature, I thought about it later. The second contract was sandwiched between the first one, so I didn't see it clearly and signed it without realizing."
