Chapter 743 Conversations on Different Wavelengths

Maggie stood at the doorway of the room. It had been a long time since the collapse accident at Flames Village, and people had stopped talking about it.

Hearing news about Fiorello from others, Maggie felt sad once again.

With a hoarse voice, Maggie asked, "Sis, you just said you saw the gentleman who used to stay here leave with a woman. What do you mean? What woman?"

Maggie didn't suspect anything; she just wanted to ask more questions upon hearing news about Fiorello.

She never thought that the cleaner saw Fiorello leave after the accident.

She instinctively believed that it was before the accident that Fiorello had been seen coming and going with some woman at the hotel.

The cleaner, seeing Maggie, felt a bit nervous. Having worked in the hotel for a long time, she had an impeccable sense of timing.

Men and women staying in hotels weren't necessarily real couples.

The cleaner had just learned from chatting with a colleague that since Fiorello left, the person staying in this room had been Maggie, and it seemed the two were married.

The cleaner was afraid that Maggie would hear what she had just said and cause unnecessary trouble.

There was a rule in hotel work: never disclose guests' privacy, no matter who they came with or left with.

If a wife found out her husband had left with another woman, wouldn't that lead to a divorce?

She might even come to the hotel to argue, causing the cleaner to lose her job.

Thinking of this, the cleaner stammered, "I was talking about the gentleman who stayed here before you, a guest from Skylight City. He checked in alone and left with a beautiful woman. Maybe he brought a lover. We were just chatting. Miss, did you forget something?"

Nowadays, women were called "Miss," and men were either called "Sir" or "Handsome."

"Yes, I forgot my headphones," Maggie said without much thought. Fiorello had only male colleagues on this trip, and he couldn't have a lover.

The cleaner saw the headphones on the table, picked them up, and handed them to Maggie. "These?"

"Yes, thank you." Maggie took the headphones, glanced reluctantly at the room, and then left.

After Maggie left, the cleaner said, "That scared me to death. I almost caused trouble."

A colleague asked, "What happened? Look how scared you are."

The cleaner whispered, "I saw the gentleman who stayed in this room leave with a female guest from downstairs. They stayed in the same hotel, one upstairs and one downstairs, acting all mysterious. He must have a lover outside. If his wife heard that, wouldn't there be a fight?"

"No way. His wife is so beautiful, and he still cheats and keeps a lover?" the colleague said. "Men, once they have some money, they like to keep lovers."

The cleaner said, "Men are all lustful. That gentleman is so handsome; he must be lustful too."

The colleague said, "I heard that his wife came all the way from Cyberland to find him. She didn't find him and has been drinking in the room every day. Smell this room; it reeks of alcohol. I think she came to catch them but didn't succeed, so she's in a bad mood and drinking here."

"In today's society, being a wife is really pitiful. When men go on business trips, who doesn't have a lover with them? The more they travel, the more likely they are to have lovers everywhere."

"Let's not talk about this. Change the sheets. There are many check-outs today. Let's clean up early and go eat."

The two didn't connect Fiorello with the collapse accident. Having worked in the hotel for a long time, they always thought in terms of men or women cheating.

The word "hotel" itself gave people a preconceived notion of "not a good place."
