Chapter 486 About to Awaken

Maggie's eyes filled with tears as she saw Fiorello lying in that hospital bed.

The once lively and gentle Fiorello now looked so pale, and it shattered her heart.

Guilt, regret, and heartache all mixed together inside her.

Maggie held Fiorello's hand, her eyes drifting to his injured chest. Bloodstains peeked through the white bandages, and her tears started flowing again.

"Fiorello," Maggie's voice was raspy, choked with sobs. "I'm so sorry, this is all my fault. Why did you have to be so foolish? I'm not worth you getting hurt."

Since the day she married Fiorello, he had always protected her, taking on all the pain and suffering himself.

She didn't blame him for divorcing her; she just felt heartache, heartache for Fiorello who risked his life for her.

Maggie leaned on Fiorello's chest, her tears sliding down her nose and dripping onto his chest.

"Fiorello, please wake up. I don't want anything else, just for you to wake up. Open your eyes and look at me, please. It's Maggie." Maggie choked with sobs; it was the first time she truly felt heartbroken. She didn't want anything else; she was ready to let go of all her hatred, as long as he was safe.

"Fiorello, I'm here to see you." Maggie gazed at his face, holding his hand against her cheek, filled with deep sorrow. "We were a couple in this life, and I have no regrets. If there's a next life, I hope we don't meet again. I don't want you to suffer like this. When you get better, we'll go back to our own lives. Thank you for giving me so much joy and beautiful memories this past year. I love you."

Maggie leaned down and kissed Fiorello's lips, her tears sliding down her cheeks and dripping onto his face.

Maggie's heart ached like it was being cut by a knife. She wished so much that Fiorello could open his eyes and look at her.

Maggie tightly held his hand, speaking non-stop, in a one-sided conversation.

She lay on his chest, recounting their memories, not noticing that a tear had slipped from the corner of Fiorello's eye, quickly soaking into the pillow and disappearing.

At that moment, Maggie's phone rang. It was a message from Dulce, reminding her to leave quickly as Holden was returning to the ward.

Maggie and Fiorello had already finalized their divorce. Kimberly had just passed away, and the Flores harbored resentment towards Maggie. The condition for the Flores family to let Maggie go was for her to divorce Fiorello and never see him again. If the Flores saw her there, it would be disastrous.

Reluctantly, Maggie kissed Fiorello's cheek again and whispered in his ear, "You have to wake up. I want to see the spirited you again."

Hearing footsteps outside, Maggie dared not delay any longer. She steeled herself and left.

She quietly exited the ward, hiding around the corner. Seeing Holden return from the other end of the hallway and enter the ward, she finally felt relieved and left.

Just after she left, Holden, who had entered the ward, noticed that Fiorello, who had been in a coma for three days, suddenly moved his fingers.

"Fiorello." Holden was ecstatic. He leaned in closer and saw tears at the corner of Fiorello's eyes.

This made Holden very excited, and he quickly went out to find a doctor.

Meanwhile, Maggie had already left the hospital and got into Dulce's car.

Dulce noticed the tear stains on Maggie's face and said, "How about you come to my place tonight? If you weren't in poor health, I'd take you out for a drink and get drunk."

Maggie's body hadn't fully recovered; she needed a month of rest after her miscarriage. Since the miscarriage, she hadn't had a proper rest.

Maggie leaned against the car seat, calming her emotions, and said, "Just take me home."

"Alright," Dulce said, "I don't have much going on at the store lately, so I'll move in with you for a few days."

Maggie understood that Dulce was worried about her and also concerned that Arya might not be able to take care of her alone.

Maggie forced a smile and said, "I'd love that."

Dulce started the car and drove towards the rental house. Suddenly, she remembered something and said, "By the way, Maggie, I find something very strange. When Isabella and I went to the cop station to find you, she never asked about you. When she heard Holden say that Fiorello was in the hospital, she got very anxious and even followed him to the hospital. Don't you think that's strange? She doesn't know Fiorello well, so why would she be worried about him?"
