Chapter 677 The Possessive Mother-in-Law
With Maggie around, Adalia dared to reach out and touch her younger siblings' hands.
Eleanor wanted to suggest using alcohol to disinfect, but Joseph pulled her back. Saying something like that at this moment would just be annoying, wouldn't it?
Adalia touched her younger siblings' tiny hands, looking satisfied, and smiled while gesturing, "Their hands are so small and soft."
Maggie smiled and said, "They're still little. They'll grow up slowly, and once they can walk, they can play with you."
Fiorello also said, "Adalia, you're the big sister. In the future, if your younger siblings misbehave, you need to discipline them. Don't spoil them; show them what it means to be a big sister."
These words made Arya and Dulce, who were standing nearby, feel at ease. As long as Fiorello valued Adalia, Eleanor's attitude didn't matter much.
In fact, thinking about it carefully, Eleanor was just anxious about the children; it was all for their good.
Adalia was particularly happy and asked with a smile, "Do the babies have names?"
Fiorello said, "Yes, the boy is named Theodric, and his nickname is Nate. The girl is named Katniss, and her nickname is Katie."
Adalia couldn't help but touch her younger siblings' tiny hands and feet again. The two babies liked their big sister, waving their little hands.
This harmonious scene made Maggie happy too. There was nothing better than having the whole family together.
Dulce smiled and said, "Let me hold Katie, Maggie. Why do I feel like Katie looks exactly like Adalia when she was little?"
Hearing this, Arya also took a closer look, "She really does look a lot like her."
Arya knew exactly what Adalia looked like when she was born.
Maggie had only seen the photos Arya had given her, but now comparing them, she also thought they looked very similar.
How could the daughter she and Fiorello had look so much like Adalia when she was little?
Eleanor heard this and was a bit unhappy. She said, "Girls all look like their mothers. Katie looks like her mom, and Adalia looks like her mom, so naturally, they look a bit alike."
Eleanor didn't like others comparing her granddaughter to Adalia. Katie was Fiorello's biological daughter, and who knew who Adalia's biological father was? How could they be the same?
Eleanor's explanation made sense.
No one continued the topic.
When Arya went to play with the children, she noticed that the crosses on the two children were missing. She glanced at Eleanor.
Eleanor felt a bit guilty and changed the subject with a smile, "Katie and Nate should start drinking formula. Maggie's health isn't good, so the two kids should drink formula from now on. Breastfeeding would harm Maggie's body and be exhausting."
The two kids needed to eat whenever they were hungry, even in the middle of the night. If they were breastfed, Maggie definitely wouldn't get enough rest.
Seeing that Eleanor was considering Maggie, Arya felt a bit better and didn't mention the crosses.
Fiorello said, "Maggie has just started to recover and still needs rest. Mom, why don't you take the kids home first? They can be discharged anyway, and you don't need to stay at the hospital. I can take care of Maggie by myself."
Eleanor smiled and said, "Alright, I'll take Katie and Nate home first. Maggie can rest assured, and you won't be distracted."
Fiorello meant to take them to Sunset Hills, where Arya and the nannies could take care of them. However, Eleanor took them directly to the Flores Manor.
Maggie and Fiorello only found out later. With the kids at home, Arya naturally couldn't visit them. She didn't argue with Eleanor and tried to see it from another perspective: Eleanor liked the two kids, which was a good thing.
Maggie couldn't leave the hospital for now and couldn't take care of the babies. She didn't feel anything was wrong and didn't realize Eleanor's possessiveness over the children.
In Maggie's mind, Eleanor had always been a good mother-in-law, treating her well, not being stingy, and not minding her past.
As an observer, Dulce, after everyone had left, took the opportunity to remind Maggie, "Maggie, have you noticed that your mother-in-law is overly concerned about the kids? She wants to control everything and monopolize them. If you're not careful, you might lose your rights as their mother in the future."
