Chapter 217 Fiorello's Old Lover Shown Up
That night, Fiorello didn't actually go to sleep in Dulce's bedroom.
It was a matter of upbringing and also unfamiliarity.
Fiorello was also worried about Maggie being here, so he slept on the couch.
Fiorello could hear the slightest noise from Maggie's room.
Dulce went to sleep in the guest room, but she couldn't sleep well either. She was worried that Maggie might talk in her sleep and let something slip.
Dulce was also unsure if Fiorello knew anything.
Only a few people knew Maggie's secret. Sam was in jail, and Arya definitely wouldn't spill the beans, so the likelihood of Fiorello knowing was slim.
Changing her thoughts again, Dulce thought that Sam ended up in jail after finding out Maggie's secret, and the only one who could have sent Sam there was Fiorello.
If Sam was pushed to the edge, would he start talking recklessly?
Dulce found it common for Maggie to feel strange about it. Even Dulce herself found it odd, feeling like Fiorello might know something, yet it seemed impossible.
If Fiorello knew, he wouldn't be so calm.
Maggie woke up to find that it was already morning.
Opening her eyes, she saw Fiorello coming in with a bowl of porridge. Looking around the room, she realized it wasn't her home either, and she was stunned.
Maggie quickly remembered that she and Dulce had been drinking, got drunk, and she was now at Dulce's place.
"Fiorello, why are you here?" Maggie, well aware of her drunken behavior, asked nervously, "When did you come?"
"Last night," Fiorello said, "I called you; Dulce said you were here, and I was worried, so I came over. I ordered some food for you to have something in your stomach."
Seeing how well Fiorello was treating her, Maggie felt even more guilty inside.
She felt so awful, thinking she didn't deserve Fiorello.
Feeling inferior, Maggie ate her breakfast and asked, "Aren't you going to the office today?"
"Not in a rush," Fiorello, noticing Maggie's heavy heart, said, "Later, you need to go to the hospital to see your mother. I'll take you there and then head to the office."
Arya was in the hospital, and Maggie would definitely need to go.
After finishing her porridge, Maggie learned that Dulce had already gone to the beauty salon. She messaged Dulce and then left Dulce's place.
Fiorello drove Maggie to the hospital to accompany Arya. Along the way, Maggie kept staring at Fiorello, feeling attached and reluctant, as if every glance meant losing a part of him.
Fiorello knew something was on Maggie's mind and waited for her to speak up. When Maggie remained silent throughout the journey, they arrived at the hospital entrance, and Fiorello couldn't help but say, "Maggie, we are a couple. Whatever happens, we should face it together."
"Okay, I understand," Maggie interrupted with a smile. "I'm fine. You should go to the office soon. You've been taking time off because of me, coming in late and leaving early, which must not be good for you."
Fiorello frowned but didn't say more. "Call me if you need anything."
"Okay."
Watching Maggie enter, Fiorello started the car and headed towards the Visionary Futures Group building.
Upon arriving at the office, Fiorello had just sat down when Holden walked in with a serious expression.
"Fiorello, a woman is here to see you, claiming to be your old lover. I've had her taken to the meeting room."
Fiorello coldly replied, "I don't have any old lovers, Holden? Are you playing a prank again?"
Fiorello thought it was another one of Holden's pranks.
"Fiorello, I'm not joking with you. That woman is in the meeting room, very elegant, claiming to have had a sexual relationship with you five years ago."
At the mention of five years ago, Fiorello's expression turned serious, and he suddenly stood up.
Fiorello also recalled what Benjamin Parker had said before. Five years ago, Fiorello was drugged, and he didn't remember what happened that night, but he had been having a recurring dream for the past few years.
Now, with a woman showing up, Fiorello suddenly realized that something must have indeed happened that night.
