Chapter 394 Left Adalia and Ran Away Alone
Adalia stepped back, eyes wide, staring at Susan.
Susan waited for the right moment for the ritual, shoving Adalia hard, saying, "You're a jinx. Keep staring, and I'll gouge your eyes out."
Suddenly, Susan felt a stomachache. She warned Adalia, "Stay put. If you run, I'll throw Emily off the building." Then she rushed to a nearby house to use the bathroom.
The unfinished building had no balcony railings and was empty. One wrong step, and one could fall.
There were no ropes, and Susan didn't have time to find any. She wasn't worried about Adalia running away since there was only one exit, and she was in the room next to it. Plus, Alan was guarding downstairs.
As soon as Susan left, Emily kicked Adalia, signaling her to untie the ropes and remove the tape from her mouth.
Adalia helped, but it hurt Emily, who snapped, "Idiot, are you trying to kill me with pain?"
Adalia apologized, "Sorry, Emily."
Emily, annoyed, said, "Hurry up and untie the ropes."
The ropes were tight, and it took Adalia a while to untie them.
Once free, Emily stood up, glanced at Susan, and ran downstairs without thinking about Adalia.
Hearing the noise, Susan cursed, "Emily, get back here, or I'll break your legs."
Adalia hesitated but then ran after Emily.
Susan quickly pulled up her pants, but the kids had already reached the second floor.
Emily, weak from hunger, tripped and fell.
"Emily," Adalia quickly helped her up.
If Adalia didn't care about Emily, she could have escaped.
Because she helped Emily, Susan caught up and grabbed Adalia.
Seeing Susan's fierce look, Emily ran out without hesitation.
"Emily, save me," Adalia cried in fear as Emily ran away.
Susan angrily slapped Adalia. "If you run, I'll kill you."
One slap wasn't enough, so Susan kicked Adalia down the stairs.
Adalia rolled down to the first floor, her head bleeding.
Emily looked back, saw Adalia's bloody face, and ran even faster.
Alan, sitting on the steps outside, heard the commotion. He saw Emily running out and Adalia lying on the ground, bleeding. Susan was coming downstairs, looking furious. He rushed inside to stop Susan. "Susan."
Emily kept running, through the unfinished building, through weeds, and onto the road.
Exhausted and scared, Emily looked back at the building. She had left Adalia at the bus stop and didn't know why she ended up here. With Adalia in the hands of the bad guys, she could have all of Maggie's love.
Emily never thought about calling the police to save Adalia.
After resting, Emily continued running. A car drove by—it was Fiorello and Maggie.
They had found out that Susan and Alan took Emily and learned from neighbors that Adalia went with Alan. They rushed over.
Maggie saw Emily by the roadside and told Fiorello, "Stop the car, it's Emily."
The car stopped, and Maggie hurried out. "Emily."
"Mom," Emily cried, "Mom, you finally came."
"Are you okay?" Maggie checked her for injuries. She was just disheveled.
Fiorello got out too. Maggie asked, "Where's Adalia? Did you see her?"
Emily lied, "I didn't see her. Mom, I'm scared. I want to go home."
