Chapter 362 Must Have a Son
Preconceived notions had a huge impact.
Kimberly never liked Maggie. No matter what Maggie did, it was never good enough, and even if she did nothing, she'd still get blamed.
Fiorello frowned. "Grandma, if you keep this up, I'll send you back. Even if you don't like Maggie, show some respect. She had a car accident and it's a miracle she's pregnant. She's risking her life for this child. You've been a mother, so for the sake of the Flores family, please stop the negativity."
Fiorello's tone was heavy. It was the first time he spoke to Kimberly with such disappointment.
Maggie was risking her life, yet Kimberly kept slandering her. If it were anyone else, Fiorello would've already lost his temper.
Fiorello's words left Kimberly speechless, her face red with anger.
She felt ashamed and furious. The grandson she raised was now standing up to her for a woman, saying such hurtful things.
Kimberly pointed angrily at Fiorello. "Is this how you talk to me? I'm doing this for your own good."
"That's hypocritical. You're just trying to control everything. If you really care about me, respect my wife." Fiorello said seriously, "Grandma, the Flores family values harmony. Your relationship with my mom hasn't been great, and now you want to interfere in my marriage. What do you really want?"
"I..." Kimberly was speechless.
Fiorello was already stressed about the baby and couldn't stand Kimberly badmouthing Maggie.
Too angry to speak, Kimberly stormed off affirming if Maggie was really pregnant with her own eyes.
Fiorello didn't care and called Arya to explain, asking her to pick up Adalia.
Arya was thrilled to hear Maggie was pregnant. "Fiorello, just take care of Maggie. Don't worry about things at home. I'll pick up Adalia. This is wonderful news!"
After calling Arya, Fiorello went back to the ward to be with Maggie and didn't tell Eleanor and Joseph.
Since the pregnancy was unstable, he decided to keep it quiet for now.
Soon, Dulce brought some food. Maggie was really hungry and ate a lot.
While Maggie was eating, Dulce said, "Maggie, I'm so sorry about today. I shouldn't have called you over or insisted you drink. It was my fault. You can scold me if it makes you feel better."
Maggie smiled. "It's not your fault. My health wasn't great to begin with. I've been feeling off these past few days. It's a good thing we found out today. Otherwise, who knows what might've happened."
Now that both she and the baby were fine, and being pregnant was such happy news, she didn't blame Dulce.
Dulce glanced at Fiorello and then at Maggie. "Please forgive me. I feel really bad about this. How about after the baby is born, I'll cover all the diapers, clothes, and formula. I'll buy the best."
Maggie laughed. "Then I won't be polite. You can be the baby's godmother."
"No problem, I'd be honored." Dulce laughed. "Being the godmother of the future heir of Visionary Futures, that's a big deal. Fiorello, you don't mind, right?"
Fiorello handed a peeled apple to Maggie. "No objections. Maggie and I wouldn't be here without your help. It's only right for the child to call you godmother."
Dulce was delighted. "The president of a big group is indeed generous."
Soon, word got out about Maggie's pregnancy. Kimberly mentioned it casually at the old mansion, and Eleanor and Joseph rushed to the hospital to visit.
Kimberly wanted to visit too, but her pride held her back.
Arya picked up Adalia from school and also went to see Maggie.
When they learned Maggie almost had a miscarriage, they all told her to rest and not overdo it.
Only Fiorello and Maggie knew how risky this pregnancy was.
Eleanor was thrilled at the thought of becoming a grandmother. She started preparing supplements for Maggie and consulted professional doctors.
Kimberly, overhearing, was curious but too embarrassed to ask Eleanor directly, so she asked Joseph instead. "Is Maggie really pregnant? How many weeks? Boy or girl?"
Joseph smiled. "The doctor said five weeks, but we don't know the gender yet. Mom, if you're worried about Maggie, you should visit her."
Kimberly stubbornly replied, "I'm not worried about her. I'm worried about my great-grandchild. What if she's lying? She said she was infertile, so how did she get pregnant so quickly? It's strange."
"Mom, you're just being suspicious. The doctor said it was difficult for Maggie to get pregnant, not impossible. Now that she is, it's a good thing. You're going to be a great-grandmother."
Kimberly glared at Joseph. "You're happy now. With Maggie pregnant, she'll probably get even more arrogant. Soon, there won't be a place for me in this house. Today, Fiorello even scolded me at the hospital."
Kimberly felt aggrieved, like a child who'd been reprimanded.
"Mom, you're overthinking it," Joseph said with a smile. "Fiorello is just worried about Maggie. It's his first time becoming a father, so it's normal for him to be a bit excited. From now on, don't talk about divorce anymore. Everything is fine as it is."
Kimberly said sarcastically, "If she gives me a great-grandson, I might consider accepting her as my granddaughter-in-law."
Joseph replied, "Mom, no one can predict whether it will be a boy or a girl."
"That depends on her ability," Kimberly said stubbornly, preferring boys over girls.
Joseph sighed and said no more.
Kimberly, leaning on her cane, went upstairs to rest. Jenny called, and in the Flores family, only Kimberly liked her, so she had to make her happy and show some concern.
Kimberly was pleased to get Jenny's call. "Jenny, you're so thoughtful, concerning my feelings and health."
"Kimberly, didn't you say your leg hurts sometimes? I know a great masseuse. I'll take you for a massage tomorrow."
Kimberly couldn't stop smiling. "Alright, thank you, Jenny. You're so considerate."
"Kimberly, I hope you stay healthy, happy, and live a long life," Jenny sweetly coaxed.
Hearing this, Kimberly regretted that Jenny wasn't her granddaughter-in-law.
"Jenny, you have a way with words," Kimberly said with a smile. "Unlike some people who only know how to upset me. Now that she's pregnant, she'll probably get even more arrogant."
"Pregnant?" Jenny was surprised. "Kimberly, who's pregnant?"
"Maggie, five weeks pregnant. She almost had a miscarriage today and is in the hospital. She just got pregnant and almost lost it. I don't think this child is meant to be with the Flores family."
"Wasn't she infertile? How did she get pregnant?"
"Luck. The doctor said it was a miracle."
Hearing that Maggie was pregnant, a deep jealousy flashed in Jenny's eyes. Why was Maggie so lucky, always encountering good things?
