Chapter 736 He Gave Her Dove Chocolate
Ivan took Maggie to the nearby Pinecrest Medical Village for immediate IV fluids and fever reduction.
Maggie hadn't been eating much these past few days, which weakened her immune system and caused low blood sugar, contributing to her cold and fever.
When Saskia returned to the agreed meeting spot with Maggie, she couldn't find her. She called Maggie, but there was no answer.
Saskia panicked and searched the area, then quickly called Holden, "Holden, Maggie is missing. We split up to look for someone, and when I came back, she was gone. She's been emotionally unstable these days; could she have committed suicide?"
"Didn't I tell you to keep an eye on her? How could you be so careless? Now my brother is in trouble, and if something happens to my sister-in-law too, what will happen to the three kids at home?" Holden, who had been in a foul mood these days, scolded Saskia harshly, "Send me the address. I'm coming over now."
Saskia started crying, fearing that if something happened to Maggie, she would feel guilty.
Holden quickly arrived with his team.
Joseph and Eleanor were also very worried when they heard Maggie was missing.
Joseph and Eleanor felt the situation was dire.
Eleanor wiped her tears in the hotel, "Is our family cursed this year? God, please keep my son and daughter-in-law safe and healthy. There are still two young children at home; they can't lose their father."
Joseph had also lost a lot of weight these days. Visionary Futures Group was in turmoil, and Holden had no time to manage it. Gregory, however, could distinguish priorities at critical moments, helping to strategize and resolve PR crises.
Arya, far away in Cyberland, couldn't leave either. She had two babies at home and could only call to check on the situation.
Night fell.
Pinecrest Medical Village.
Maggie woke up, feeling wary in the unfamiliar environment. She suddenly sat up, feeling dizzy and experiencing a sharp pain in her hand.
Maggie then noticed the IV needle in her hand and the half-full IV bag.
Seeing that she was at Pinecrest Medical Village, Maggie felt slightly relieved.
At that moment, Ivan pulled back the curtain and walked in.
He was wearing a mask. Maggie recognized him immediately and exclaimed, "It's you!"
Even with the mask on, Maggie recognized him.
Maggie became alert, "Ivan, did you bring me here? What are your intentions?"
"You had a fever and fainted by the roadside. Your fever has now subsided," Ivan said, handing her a chocolate bar. "It's hard to find food here. Eat something to regain your strength."
Maggie looked at the Dove chocolate Ivan handed her but didn't take it. She removed the IV needle from her hand and got up to leave.
Ivan blocked her way and insisted on giving her the chocolate, "How will you have the strength to find someone if you don't eat? It's been so long; Fiorello is most likely not alive."
"He must still be alive," Maggie said firmly, staring at Ivan. "Why are you here? Are you here to harm Fiorello? Did you hide him?"
Ivan took off his mask and said expressionlessly, "I'm here to confirm if Fiorello is dead. It seems he most likely is. Natural disasters and human actions, no one is to blame."
With that, Ivan turned and walked out.
Maggie, having regained some strength, followed him and asked, "Ivan, why did you help me back then?"
Hearing this, Ivan stopped. Wearing a trench coat, he stood with his back to Maggie, his handsome features softening for a moment.
"I owed you. Now we're even."
Maggie had once shown Ivan a bit of kindness, even if it was just a casual remark. To him, it was the first warmth he had ever felt in his life.
Maggie was puzzled. What did Ivan owe her?
Maggie walked up to Ivan and looked at him calmly, "Is working for Kyle worth it? You helped me before, which means you're not a bad person. Ivan, turn yourself in. Do you want to spend your life in prison?"
"That's my business," Ivan said expressionlessly. "You should return to Cyberland as soon as possible. Fiorello is dead. Accept reality. With Fiorello dead, all grudges are cleared."
With Fiorello dead, Kyle would have no reason to trouble the Flores family anymore.
With that, Ivan walked into the night. Maggie watched his back, sensing loneliness in his silhouette.
Ivan had already paid Pinecrest Medical Village. Maggie didn't continue with the IV. She found her phone dead and borrowed a phone from the Pinecrest Medical Village doctor to call Holden.
