Chapter 292 Encounter with a Madman

Fiorello hunched that something had happened to Maggie.

Unable to reach her, he couldn't rest easy. He immediately instructed the driver to head back to the Cityhomes West apartments and made a call. "Brian, find out where Maggie is right now. It's urgent."

Sitting in the back seat, Holden was surprised. Even Brian was being called in. He wanted to say it wasn't necessary to be so anxious, but seeing Fiorello's grim expression, he kept his mouth shut.

Brian had been Fiorello's bodyguard for eight years and was currently on a year-long vacation.

Brian was extremely important to Fiorello.

Fiorello wouldn't use Brian lightly; if he did, it was always an urgent and significant matter.

Brian responded on the other end of the line, "Mr. Flores, give me ten minutes."

In ten minutes, he would find out Maggie's whereabouts.

As he made the call, Fiorello had already arrived at the entrance of the Cityhomes West apartments.

He got out of the car and walked to the security booth, knocking on the window. The security guard, who had been dozing off, woke up with a start and shivered instinctively upon seeing Fiorello.

Fiorello stood at the window, looking as if he had come from the depths of hell, bringing with him a chilling frost.

"Mr. Flores, you're back," the security guard greeted warmly.

Fiorello asked coldly, "Has my wife returned?"

The security guard, who knew half of the apartment's residents, quickly replied, "Yes, she returned about an hour ago. I saw Mrs. Flores, and she even greeted me."

Fiorello's frown deepened.

Eleanor had said Maggie hadn't returned, contradicting what the guard had just reported.

This meant Maggie had entered the apartment but hadn't gone home.

She had gone missing within the apartment complex.

Cyberland was an old district with dilapidated houses that couldn't compare to the city center.

Most of the residents here were poor, and the area was chaotic.

The poorest even lived under bridges.

The rental houses here were low-rise, three to four stories high, with poor living conditions. Every household had to cook with gas canisters in the corridors.

This area was also slated for demolition, and most tenants had already moved out, leaving only a few still living here.

In a rental room on the third floor, Maggie lay on the bed, her limbs bound.

The effects of the drug had worn off, and Maggie opened her eyes. She observed the surroundings she found herself in, quickly struggling to sit up.

Her mouth was taped shut, preventing her from making any sound, and her hands and feet were tied, making it impossible to break free.

She looked around the less than twenty-square-foot room, which was very messy, with empty beer bottles on the floor.

Maggie could hear occasional voices from outside, those of the neighboring tenants.

She tried to recall her memories before being kidnapped but couldn't think of who would have done this to her.

She hadn't offended anyone.

Suddenly, footsteps approached. A shadow passed the window, followed by the sound of a key turning in the lock.

Maggie tensed up, instinctively curling up in the corner of the bed, a look of fear flashing in her eyes.

With a creak, the door was pushed open from the outside.

Maggie's pupils contracted sharply as she saw a man carrying a beer enter.

The man was wearing black pants and a black leather jacket, as well as a hat. When he removed the hat, Maggie saw his face and was terrified.

It was Farrell.

She hadn't expected it to be Farrell. She hadn't offended him either.

Maggie struggled, trying to speak, but with her mouth taped shut, she could only make muffled sounds.

Farrell merely glanced at Maggie, placed the beer on the table, poured himself a glass, and began drinking.

Maggie didn't know what Farrell intended to do. She didn't dare provoke him and could only sit quietly in the corner of the bed without speaking.

Farrell took a sip of his drink, his gaze sinister as he looked at Maggie. "When dawn breaks, I'll take you to the Marriage registry office, and we'll get a marriage certificate."
