Chapter 269 Pleasing

Maggie, feeling exhausted, decided to continue resting in the hotel while Fiorello, dressed in a sharp suit, prepared to head out.

When William saw Fiorello coming downstairs, he quickly got up to greet him. "Mr. Flores."

Ronald also stood up promptly. "Mr. Flores."

Fiorello approached Ronald, his expression cold, his expression cold, a stark contrast to his earlier demeanor with Maggie. "Mr. Lewis, you’ve been waiting for a long time."

"It's my duty," Ronald said with a smile. "Mr. Flores, the car is waiting outside. Shall we get in?"

"Alright," Fiorello said, walking towards the hotel entrance. He casually asked, "Where is the beautiful lady Mr. Lewis brought last night?"

Worried that Fiorello might be upset, Ronald quickly replied, "Mr. Flores, you mean Bella? She's not feeling well today and took the day off. It’s my fault for not arranging things properly. Please don't be upset."

"No need to be so tense, Mr. Lewis. I just wanted to ask her some questions," Fiorello said. "Please have her come over."

Ronald not fully understanding Fiorello's intentions, figured that sacrificing a woman was worth it if it meant securing the deal. He promptly agreed, "Okay, I’ll call her right away."

Fiorello instructed William, "Make sure to ask her thoroughly and find out who else might be behind this Bella."

Unaware of the specifics, William glanced at the now pale Mr. Lewis and replied, "Yes, Mr. Flores."

After eating something, Maggie fell into a deep sleep and woke up groggily at five in the afternoon.

She had slept for a long time. The previous night had been exhausting. Driving all night and being worn out by Fiorello left her utterly drained. After a full day of rest, she finally felt rejuvenated.

She leaned back on the bed and called Arya to check on her and Adalia at home.

Arya said over the phone, "I'm playing with Adalia downstairs in the apartment building. Don't worry, we're doing fine at home."

"Okay," Maggie said, still a bit concerned. "Mom, be careful with your leg, and make sure Adalia eats properly. I’m in Sunshine Bay City with Fiorello on a business trip. I’ll be back tomorrow."

Since there was nothing much to hide, Maggie decided to be honest.

If she didn't return for a day or two and made up some other excuse, Arya would still worry.

Hearing this, Arya laughed, "Alright, I understand. You take care on your trip with Fiorello. Adalia and I are fine at home, no need to worry."

Seeing Maggie and Fiorello getting along so well, even going on business trips together. Even Adalia, overhearing the conversation, giggled, "Mommy went to see Daddy."

"You little rascal," Maggie said, both amused and exasperated. Even Adalia was starting to tease her.

After chatting with Adalia for a while, Maggie finally hung up.

Arya checked the time and said to Adalia, "Let's go out for dinner today."

"Yay," Adalia said happily, "We're going out to eat!"

Arya smiled, "What do you want to eat, Adalia?"

"KFC," Adalia said excitedly. "Grandma, can we have KFC?"

"Kids all love KFC," Arya said. "Alright, we'll have KFC, but you can't eat too much of this fried stuff. It’s not healthy."

"Okay, I understand, Grandma," Adalia said with a big smile. "You’re the best."

"You little rascal," Arya said, her heart filled with joy. Looking at Adalia often reminded her of twenty years ago when Maggie was the same way, sweet-talking to get what she wanted.

Looking at Adalia, Arya sighed softly, "I wonder how that child is doing now."

Arya was reminded of her abandoned biological granddaughter.

Adalia asked, "Grandma, what's wrong?"

"Nothing, let's go. I will treat you to KFC,” Arya said.

Arya took Adalia's hand and walked out of the apartment.

There was a KFC right next to the apartment. As they walked out, Arya immediately saw Mark approaching.

"Arya," Mark said with a smile, hurrying to support Arya, "Your leg isn't well. Why are you walking around? Where do you want to go? I'll take you."

"Adalia wants to eat KFC, so I'm taking her," Arya said, her attitude towards Mark softening significantly.

Mark glanced at Adalia, not really caring who she was, and said, "Let me take you both there."
