Chapter 352 Resolving the Crisis

Maggie had already said her piece, now it was Fiorello's turn.

"Grandma, you might not believe it, but if I hadn't coaxed Maggie back, she would've divorced me a hundred times by now. It's not that she can't live without me; it's that I don't want to let go," Fiorello said.

"You even chased after her?" Kimberly was shocked. Her beloved grandson had to pursue another woman? "That's outrageous."

Maggie squeezed Fiorello's hand. "I've said what I needed to. Dad, Mom, Grandma, good night. Fiorello and I are heading back now."

Kimberly tapped her cane on the floor. "Where do you think you're taking Fiorello? Fiorello, you're not leaving. You must stay home tonight."

Maggie smirked. "Grandma, think this through. If Fiorello stays, then I stay too. We're married, and he has marital duties. If I stay, it might affect your mood."

Even Fiorello was surprised by Maggie's bluntness.

Seeing Kimberly's displeasure, Fiorello couldn't help but smile, his eyes filled with affection.

Even Eleanor couldn't hold back her laughter.

Joseph cleared his throat, thinking, 'Maggie really dares to say anything. Fiorello's position in the family might be in jeopardy.'

Holden was also shocked. He never expected the usually gentle Maggie to be so blunt.

Kimberly was furious. "You're such a jerk."

"Thanks for the compliment, Grandma," Maggie said with a smile. "If there's nothing else, we'll be leaving."

Maggie didn't care about Kimberly's expression and pulled Fiorello along.

And Fiorello followed her.

Supporting Maggie and listening to her was the right move.

Maggie had done so much for him; as her husband, he had to support her.

His attitude determined Maggie's status in the Flores family.

If he didn't belittle Maggie, no one else would dare to look down on her.

"You all think I'm old and my words don't matter anymore." Kimberly could only stomp her foot in anger, helpless against the two. "I see Fiorello has lost a lot of weight; it must be that jerk tiring him out."

Joseph was too embarrassed to speak, and Eleanor pretended not to hear.

What a married couple wanted to do was none of their business.

Holden immediately tried to soothe her, "Grandma, I'll listen to you. Come on, I'll take you to your room to rest. You like playing cards, right? I'll invite some friends over to play with you tomorrow."

Eighty-something Kimberly had over fifty years of card-playing experience.

In the countryside, Kimberly was a regular at the card room from 1 PM to 5 PM every day, never missing a session.

Holden managed to coax Kimberly away, and Eleanor sighed, finally sitting down to take a sip of water. "Mom is so old, yet she still wants to control everything."

"You know her temper. You should argue with her less," Joseph said, "She's over eighty now. What if she gets sick from anger? You should be more understanding."

"I think Mom is full of energy and could live to a hundred." Eleanor glared at Joseph. "All these years, no matter what I did, your mom was never satisfied. Now I think it's great that Maggie can handle her."

Joseph added, "Being a man in the Flores family is not easy."

Eleanor laughed and scolded, "Men play a significant role in the relationship with in-laws. If you were more like Fiorello, I wouldn't have been oppressed by your mom for so many years."

"How did this become my fault again?" Joseph felt wronged. "Let's go to bed."

Eleanor said, "All you think about is sleep. Don't you wonder how Mom found out about Maggie's infertility as soon as she got back? Who sent that anonymous information to our house? Someone is trying to sow discord. How can you sleep? I think someone is targeting Fiorello and doesn't want him to have a good life."

"I don't know. I'm a semi-retired vice president with a cushy job. I just want to enjoy life," Joseph said, feeling a bit guilty. His intuition told him that today's events were definitely related to that person.
