Chapter 495 Someone Heard It
At the Holmes Villa, Kevin was pacing back and forth in the study, frantically making phone calls, trying to scrape together some funds.
People who used to be tight with him were now avoiding him like he had the plague, like they all got the memo to stay away.
This was a far cry from when they heard his daughter was set to marry into the Flores family.
After hanging up, Kevin cursed under his breath, "They're all a bunch of heartless jerks."
"Dad, you need to talk to Joseph and call off the wedding," Jenny said, pushing the door open and stepping in. She was already four months pregnant, and it was spring in Cyberland. Her belly was starting to show, but the wedding with Gregory hadn't happened yet.
When they were picking a date, Joseph had suggested a few, but Gregory shot down the closest one, saying it was too soon after Kimberly's passing. They finally settled on May 5th.
It was only March, and Jenny's belly was already noticeable. If they waited another two months, it would be even bigger, and she'd be a laughingstock at the wedding.
The more Jenny thought about it, the angrier she got. She didn't want to go through with the wedding anymore.
Kevin was already fuming, and hearing this made his face even darker. "What nonsense are you talking about? Your belly is already big. If you don't get married, do you want me to lose face too?"
"Having a wedding with a big belly is even more embarrassing," Jenny snapped, "I think Gregory is doing this on purpose. He hasn't come to see me for so long. He's out partying every night. I haven't even married him yet, and he's already cheated on me multiple times."
Kevin had heard about this too. Gregory was known for his wild lifestyle, frequently making headlines with young models and actresses staying overnight at hotels.
This brought great shame to the Holmes family.
The news of Jenny and Gregory's wedding had already spread.
Kevin didn't know what Gregory was thinking. When he first approached Gregory for cooperation, Gregory had agreed in person. Now that the wedding date was set, Gregory was being so disrespectful and indifferent, making the Holmes family look bad. They were stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Kevin sat on the couch, lit a cigar, and his cloudy eyes darkened. "What is Gregory trying to do? He's just an illegitimate child. Doesn't he want to return to the Flores family? After all, you're carrying his baby. I can tell that Gregory doesn't get along with Fiorello. They can't possibly team up against us, the Holmes family."
Kevin was now in a difficult position because of Fiorello and Gregory. Fiorello made it hard for his company to move forward, and Gregory brought shame to the Holmes family.
Jenny looked at her belly, also very angry. "That bastard Gregory doesn't care about my baby. He even asked me to get rid of it back then."
Kevin was shocked. "Did he really say that? Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
Jenny said, "Dad, you never asked me."
This almost made Kevin explode with anger. "That's it. I must go to Joseph and have you and Gregory get a marriage certificate first to settle things. It doesn't matter if Gregory doesn't care about the baby in your belly; as long as the Flores family cares, that's enough."
"Dad, don't go. I don't want to marry Gregory."
"It's not up to you now," Kevin warned, "Jenny, at this point, you can't be willful. Otherwise, the Holmes family will be finished. Fiorello has already started targeting us."
"Why is Fiorello targeting the Holmes family? Does he know something?" Jenny's face turned pale, and she grabbed Kevin's arm. "Dad, does Fiorello know that I killed Mrs. Flores?"
Kevin had no idea about this. Hearing Jenny's words, he almost fell to the ground in shock.
"Say that again. Who killed Mrs. Flores?" Kevin stuttered.
Since Kimberly's death, Jenny had been having nightmares for months. Coupled with the rise in pregnancy hormones, she wasn't sleeping well and was in poor mental health. She dreamed of Kimberly coming to her.
Jenny was terrified. "Dad, I saw Mrs. Flores lying on the ground, about to die, but she wouldn't die, so I gave her another stab."
Kevin was so shocked that his eyes almost popped out. He grabbed Jenny's arm tightly. "Did you really kill Mrs. Flores?"
Jenny nodded fearfully. "Yes."
Neither of them noticed that the maid Anna was passing by the study door and overheard their conversation. Anna was also terrified.
