Chapter 209 Like a Person

Maggie looked towards the entrance; Fiorello appeared out of expectation, striding over with large steps.
Fiorello, in a protective stance towards Maggie, stood by her side and habitually held Maggie's hand.
The warmth from their palms also warmed Maggie's heart.
Maggie asked, "How did you get here so quickly?"
While negotiating with Mark, Fiorello sent her a message, and Maggie sent him the address.
In just half an hour, Fiorello arrived.
Fiorello's voice was gentle. "Come to pick up my honey, definitely at the fastest speed. Let's go home."
Maggie smiled. "Okay."
Mark looked at Fiorello, feeling somewhat familiar, but couldn't recall where he had seen him before.
Seeing Fiorello and Maggie about to leave, Mark still said, "Maggie, please reconsider. Melissa is your sister. You can't turn a blind eye. I beg you."
With that, Mark bowed deeply to Maggie.
Maggie remained indifferent, gently squeezing Fiorello's hand. Fiorello and Maggie completely ignored Mark and walked towards the cafe outside.
Fiorello's car was parked by the roadside. Fiorello, like a gentleman, opened the car door for Maggie, his hand protecting her head, very detailed.
Mark stood in the cafe, watching Fiorello and Maggie leave through the glass window.
Soon after, Ashley walked in. "Did Maggie agree?"
Mark said, "I can't seem to get through to Maggie."
Mark looked at the list of child support on the table, reviewing Maggie's words and actions from getting into the car to entering the cafe, a proud look appearing on his face.
"My daughter is indeed brainy, meticulous in her thoughts, decisive in her actions, not someone who can be easily manipulated. Angering Maggie might result in cutting ties, a pity, she's a daughter."
If it were a son, he could be groomed as an heir.
"Why are you praising her now, Maggie? I inquired. She's just working at a jewelry company and not earning much."
Ashley disdainfully said, "I heard she married an ordinary man. That man, just now, I saw him driving a car worth about 20,000 dollars. Mark, you must understand. Maggie, her surname isn't Jackson. Our purpose in finding Maggie is to save Melissa."
"I know," Mark said. This matter must be handled with a gentle attitude, not a forceful one. It's best to start from Arya's side."
Ashley urged, "Then do it quickly, whether through threats or enticements. Melissa can't wait too long."
Mark asked, "Did you see Maggie's husband just now? Did he seem like someone familiar?"
Ashley: "Like who?"
"I can't remember; it seems like I've seen him somewhere."
On the way back, Maggie was in a bad mood.
Thinking about Mark's words was chilling, and she also felt sorry for her mother.
Fiorello asked, "Tell me, what does your father, who hasn't appeared in over twenty years, want from you?"
Maggie leaned against the car seat and turned to look at Eleanor. "Did Eleanor tell you?"
"Yeah," Fiorello said, "Eleanor called me and mentioned it."
Maggie smiled bitterly. "He's targeting my bone marrow and wants me to save Melissa."
At this, Fiorello's face darkened. "He should be grateful he's your father."
Otherwise, this shameless man, Fiorello, could teach him a lesson.
Maggie shrugged, self-deprecatingly said, "Being Mark's daughter, I feel quite unlucky. In the past, I had fantasies, but now that I've seen the real person, I wish he wasn't my dad."
Fiorello reached out to ruffle Maggie's head. "As long as I'm here, it's fine."
Maggie smiled, enjoying the feeling of being pampered by Fiorello.
Back at home, after freshening up, Maggie lay down on the bed, and soon enough, Fiorello habitually embraced her from behind.
Maggie couldn't sleep well but didn't want to talk either.
Maggie had a gut feeling that Mark would definitely come back and that he was sure to see Caro again.
Just afraid that Mark might do something excessive.
As it turned out, Maggie's worries were not unfounded. Early the next morning, Maggie received a call from the hospital; Arya had an accident.
