Chapter 631 Deceiving for Fingerprints
When the phone fell to the ground, as Maggie expected, Jenny bent down and picked it up, "Miss Miller, your phone."
Maggie smiled and thanked her, "Thank you, I'm so careless, dropping my phone."
"You're welcome, it was nothing." Jenny definitely didn't want to help; she was just trying to get closer to Maggie.
When Maggie took the phone, she deliberately avoided touching the screen and held it by the edges. She smiled at Jenny and then turned towards the restroom.
In the restroom, Maggie looked at the phone screen and saw two fingerprints left behind—Jenny's fingerprints.
She had intentionally dropped the phone to collect Jenny's fingerprints from the screen.
Because Jenny had been deliberately getting close and saying strange things, Maggie had become suspicious of her identity.
Maggie left through another exit, borrowed some tape from the cashier, and then used the tape to lift the fingerprints from the phone screen.
Maggie walked out of the coffee shop, and Francis was waiting at the door, "I'll head back to the station now."
"I'll go with you," Maggie said. "I have something I want you to check and confirm."
Francis was puzzled, "What is it?"
"I'll tell you in the car," Maggie replied. She glanced back at the coffee shop and saw Jenny still sitting in the same spot through the window.
Seeing Maggie look back, Jenny enthusiastically waved at her.
Maggie smiled back and then got into Francis's car.
Seeing Maggie get into Francis's car, Jenny became more certain of her earlier suspicions and quickly took a photo as evidence.
Francis started the car and drove a short distance before Maggie spoke, "That woman in the coffee shop named Christina seemed suspicious. When you came in, she immediately said you were my friend. How did she know we knew each other? And she felt very familiar and uncomfortable to me."
A woman's intuition is often accurate.
Francis, being a police officer, quickly caught on, "You suspect that woman was Jenny? But her appearance..."
"In this day and age, changing one's appearance isn't difficult," Maggie interrupted softly. "Appearances can be altered, but one thing that can't be changed is fingerprints. Fingerprints are unique. I deliberately dropped my phone in front of her, and when she picked it up, she left her fingerprints on the screen. Your department's database must have Jenny's fingerprints on file. A comparison will tell us."
Francis recalled how nervous and scared Jenny had been when he saw her at the supermarket last time. Coupled with Maggie's description, he also began to doubt Jenny's identity.
Francis glanced at Maggie and said, "You're pretty smart."
Soon, they arrived at the police station. Francis handed the fingerprints Maggie had collected to the lab for comparison.
The comparison would take some time, so Maggie waited at the station.
Meanwhile.
Visionary Futures Group.
Fiorello had just finished a meeting and returned to his office. He called Maggie to ask how she was doing at home.
Upon learning that Maggie was at the police station, Fiorello immediately became tense, "Why are you at the police station? What happened?"
"Don't worry, I'm here with Francis," Maggie briefly explained the situation and laughed, "Fiorello, you're so nervous?"
With Jenny still at large and Maggie pregnant with twins, Fiorello was understandably anxious.
"Wait at the station; I'll come to pick you up," Fiorello said. "There's something I need to tell you. Your dad called me earlier."
Since Mark returned to London, Maggie hadn't heard anything from him. Why did he call Fiorello first?
Worried that Mark was asking Fiorello for money, Maggie hurriedly asked, "Did my dad ask you for money or a favor?"
"I'll tell you when I see you," Fiorello said. "When will the lab results be ready? I'm coming over now."
"It should be soon. Francis said it would take at most an hour."
"Okay, I'm on my way."
After ending the call, Maggie waited a bit longer. She checked the time and saw Francis walking over with a serious expression, "Maggie, the comparison results are in."
