Chapter 660 The Scheme to Sow Discord
Kieran curiously asked, "Francis, who chased whom? It looks to me like you made the first move."
"Yeah." Francis nodded in acknowledgment and said, "Mind your own business. Next time, I don't want to hear any rumors about Wendy and me."
Kieran quickly said, "Got it, got it, Francis. I'm waiting for your wedding invitation with Miss Quixote."
"I'll make sure you get one." Francis knocked on the table and said, "You handle the wrap-up work today. I'm leaving early; I have something to do."
"Francis, a date?" Kieran laughed and said, "Go ahead, don't worry. Leave the rest to me. As for Jenny, now that she's in our hands, she won't be escaping. By the way, Mr. Flores from Visionary Futures Group called. The Flores family is putting pressure on us to wrap up this case quickly."
"Alright, you handle it."
Francis tidied up and left work early.
He first bought some gifts and then got a present for Wendy's daughter, Brianna, before driving to the Holmes family.
At six in the evening, Francis arrived at the Holmes family on time.
Neil and Elara Brooks were at home waiting. When they saw Francis, they greeted him with smiles, "Francis is here, come in and sit."
Wendy, who was busy in the kitchen, heard the noise, peeked out, and immediately beamed with joy.
Brianna also ran out of her room, "Francis."
"Brianna." Francis called out with a smile and handed the gifts to Elara, "Elara, Neil, these are supplements I bought for you. I heard from Wendy that you haven't been well. Have you had a check-up recently?"
Elara smiled and said, "You've bought us so many things over the years. From now on, when you come, don't spend money on gifts anymore."
Neil was also very enthusiastic, "We had a check-up last week. Elara has a bit of high blood pressure and is on medication. I'm doing fine. Francis, come, have a drink with me."
Francis said, "No problem."
There were already a few dishes on the table. Wendy came out of the kitchen and said, "Francis, you guys start eating. There's just one more dish left."
"Wendy, thank you for your hard work." Francis said politely.
They sat down to eat, and Brianna liked to sit next to Francis. Neil opened a bottle of wine and poured two glasses, "Try this wine. Wendy said you've been busy lately and got promoted, so you have more responsibilities now. There will be fewer opportunities to drink with me in the future, so let's make the most of it."
"Francis, whenever you want to drink, just call me." Francis raised his glass, "I've been busy lately and haven't visited you. I'll drink this one as a self-punishment."
Francis drank it all in one go. Wendy came out with the last dish and said in a wifely tone, "Don't drink so fast. Drink less and eat some food first, or your stomach will feel uncomfortable later."
Wendy said this as she sat down next to Francis. The group looked like a happy family.
Neil and Elara noticed Wendy's actions and showed loving expressions.
Brianna happily ate her meal. Neil and Francis drank like father and son, while Elara and Wendy accompanied them, helping to pour drinks. It was just an ordinary family scene.
Neil raised his glass and clinked it with Francis's, saying, "Francis, I wish you success and all the best."
"Thank you, Uncle." Francis said respectfully.
Wendy looked at the harmonious scene and felt very warm inside.
She went to the kitchen to get some soup. Elara also went in to get a ladle and said with a smile, "Francis is handsome and has a bright future. He's also good to Brianna. If he could be our son-in-law, that would be perfect."
Wendy blushed, "Mom."
"Wendy, don't let such a good man slip away. Since Edward passed away, you and Francis have done so much for us. We've seen it all. You've been single for so many years; it's not easy. Your dad and I see you as our own daughter. If you and Francis get together, we would be very happy."
Wendy blushed and said, "Mom, I don't know what Francis thinks."
"Let your dad ask him later." Elara said with a smile as she took the ladle and went out.
Brianna finished eating and slid off her chair, "Francis, I want to play with your phone."
"Okay." Francis unlocked the phone screen and handed it to Brianna.
Brianna had played with his phone before, so Francis gave it to her naturally.
Brianna took the phone to her room to play. Wendy came out with the soup and, not seeing her daughter, said, "This child, why did she run off after eating so little? I'll take the soup to her."
Wendy took a bowl of soup to the room, "Brianna, drink the soup."
Brianna was playing a game on Francis's phone when a Facebook message from Dulce popped up.
Brianna said, "Mom, Francis has a message."
Wendy was curious, "Let me see."
