Chapter 257 Maggie Was So Easy to Deceive
Everyone would be angry upon hearing such a thing, especially when it happened to someone Maggie knew.
Maggie must be very angry.
Just now, Maggie was at the police station, seething with anger. If she didn't control herself, she wouldn't stop at just a few words.
Fiorello said, "There are all kinds of people in the world, each with different personalities. That's human nature, not to be looked down upon or elevated."
Maggie looked at him and said, "The philosopher is at it again."
Fiorello had many insights.
He smiled and asked, "What do you want to eat tonight?"
"I'm not really hungry," Maggie admitted, her mood not conducive to eating. Then, remembering something, she added, "Oh, by the way, Ann from our sales department got promoted to supervisor. They're throwing a party on Friday and they've invited me, saying to bring family. Are you available that day?"
Fiorello didn't dare to show up on such an occasion, as it would definitely expose him.
Fiorello apologized. "I have to go on a business trip to Sunshine Bay City on Friday morning and won't be back until the weekend."
Maggie felt disappointed. "Alright."
Apart from the reunion with her former classmates, she hadn't taken Fiorello to any gatherings.
Sensing her disappointment, he smiled and said, "When I come back from the trip, I'll bring you a gift."
"I don't want gifts. You work hard on your business trips to earn money, and then you spend it on gifts for me. I can't bear it," Maggie said, "Ann has returned to work at the company, Arya's foot should be fine, I think I'll go back to work next week too."
Maggie couldn't bear to see Fiorello working hard to earn money alone.
Jones paid her such a high salary that it was not good for her to not go to work.
She decided to get up early every day to prepare lunch for Adalia and Arya, and after work in the afternoon, she would go home early to make dinner without delay.
"I'll go along with your wishes, as long as you're happy," Fiorello said, "You're bored at home, it's good to go out to work and get some fresh air."
Maggie smiled and took Fiorello's arm. "Then it's settled."
She really didn't want to sit idle; staying at home was too boring.
Fiorello looked at her affectionately. "Okay."
At that moment, Fiorello's phone rang; it was Benjamin calling.
"Do you have any plans for tonight?" Benjamin said on the phone, "If you don't have any plans, let's have dinner together tonight. Holden and I are together; it's a good opportunity for a few people to get together."
"Alright," Fiorello glanced at Maggie and said to Benjamin on the phone, "I have two people here."
"Two people?" Benjamin was puzzled for a moment, then realized. "You brought Maggie along. Alright, it's settled for tonight. I'll make arrangements. See you at the usual place."
"Okay," Fiorello hung up the phone and said to Maggie, "Benjamin is inviting us to dinner tonight."
When Maggie was hospitalized, Benjamin had also visited her. Maggie had to accept his invitation.
"I'll call my mom; we won't be coming back for dinner tonight. I'll order takeout for my mom and Adalia."
Maggie immediately called Arya and learned that they wouldn't be coming back for dinner. Arya said, "You don't need to worry about us. The lunch for Adalia and me is enough, no need to order takeout, it's a waste of money and not hygienic."
"Alright, Mom. If we come back late, you don't need to wait for us. Rest early, give Adalia a bath, apply the allergy medicine prescribed by the hospital, and rub it on her body again."
Arya said, "I know, don't worry."
After giving detailed instructions, Maggie hung up the phone.
It was dinner time now, and Fiorello and Maggie went directly to the place Benjamin had arranged.
When they arrived, Maggie was worried about dirtying the luxury car and was very careful when getting out of the car.
This was Fiorello's boss's luxury car. If it got dirty, Fiorello would be in trouble.
Holden came out to answer the phone and happened to see Fiorello and Maggie getting out of the Rolls-Royce.
Holden was puzzled; perhaps Maggie had learned about Fiorello's identity.
He didn't dare to say anything out of the line, and greeted Maggie, "Maggie, Fiorello, you're here."
After exchanging greetings with Holden, Maggie said to Fiorello, "I'll go to the restroom for a moment."
Fiorello said, "Turn left inside, and you'll see the restroom straight ahead."
"Okay." Maggie went to the restroom.
Holden asked, "Fiorello, did you tell Maggie? I saw you two getting out of your car."
"No," Fiorello said, "I told her it's the boss's car."
Holden felt speechless that Maggie would believe that.
"Did Maggie believe such an excuse?" Holden asked,
Fiorello calmly replied, "Yes."
Holden shook his head, suddenly feeling sorry for Maggie. "Poor Maggie, she's so easy to deceive."
In the restroom, Maggie knew nothing. She was washing her hands and fixing her hair when suddenly, a sarcastic voice came from behind her. "Do you think Fiorello truly loves you? He's been deceiving you all along."
