Chapter 1000 Want to Marry Jane

Jane nodded in agreement while sneaking a glance at Anthony, a mischievous smile playing on her lips. 'Serves him right for not behaving like a proper man!' Jane thought.

Jane, as if oblivious to Anthony's darkened expression, smiled at Ainslee and said, "Mr. Richardson, please!"

Jane pondered for a moment. She was still Anthony's companion on the cruise and couldn't afford to offend him too much. So, she turned back with a radiant smile and invited Anthony. "Mr. Clark, would you like to join us? I'll show you my shooting skills as your temporary worker."

"Jane Watkins!" Anthony was caught in a fit of rage. She always knew how to push him to the brink of fury, making him gnash his teeth in frustration without being able to fully express his anger.

"Let's go!"

Jane, in her good mood, didn't notice that her voice had a playful lilt , almost like she was acting cute.

Anthony couldn't stand it when Jane played the coquette. It was so charming to him.

Ten minutes later, the group of four arrived at the shooting range.

The shooting range on the cruise ship was never a popular entertainment venue. With the recent fatal accident, even fewer guests were willing to come.

Including Jane and her companions, there were only about ten people in the vast shooting range.

"Mr. Richardson, only shooting targets is boring. How about we add a little wager?" Jane had already planned this when she agreed to play the game with Ainslee.

"How do we play?" Ainslee gestured for Jane to continue.

"To be honest, I want to get some information from you, Mr. Richardson. If I win, you tell me what you know. If I lose..." Jane paused, "What do you want?"

"You."

"What?" Jane thought she had misheard.

Ainslee, with his handsome and scholarly demeanor, said in an academic tone, "I said, if I win, Ms. Watkins, you have to give yourself to me. Since the game hasn't started yet, we don't have to bet on this if you don't want to."

"Ainslee!" Anthony pulled Jane behind him protectively, glaring at Ainslee.

Even Richard, who was on Ainslee's side, couldn't help but frown at Ainslee.

"I agree!" Jane quickly made her decision.

"Jane Watkins, how dare you!" Anthony gripped Jane's wrist.

"Anthony Clark, you're hurting me!" Jane pulled her wrist away and looked Anthony straight in the eye. "Mr. Clark, the deal and the stakes are equal. If Mr. Richardson dares to ask for me, then the information he can provide must be worth my value."

Jane paused and said, "I think I'm quite valuable."

"Yes, very valuable." Ainslee affirmed Jane's worth without hesitation.

'Whether considering Jane's own talents and influence in photography or her status as Jovan's sister, she is indeed very valuable,' Anthony thought.

Anthony glared at Ainslee with a dark expression. 'Jovan is clearly with Ainslee, and Ainslee is just trying to get something for nothing. Even if he lost, he wouldn't suffer any loss!' Anthony thought.

"Jane, Ainslee's shooting skills are almost on par with Jovan at his peak." Anthony tried to make Jane understand the reality and not get herself trapped.

Jane was stunned.

Ainslee, despite his scholarly appearance, had such excellent shooting skills.

Ainslee nodded, indicating that it was true. His shooting skills were indeed that good. "So, do you still want to compete?" he asked.

To the astonishment of the three men, Jane quickly put on her earmuffs, loaded the gun, and fired ten bullets.

The smart LCD screen displayed the score: all 10 rings.

Jane breathed a sigh of relief and raised a smile. She looked at Ainslee with confidence, then turned to Anthony with a hint of smugness.

Jane had hit all 10 rings. 'I couldn't possibly lose. At most, it would be a tie,' Jane thought.

Anthony's furrowed brow did not relax as he muttered, "Silly girl."

Jane thought, 'Why attack me in public? And using such an old-fashioned term to insult me! Unbelievable!'

Jane was so angry that she didn't even want to retort to Anthony.

Soon, Jane understood why Anthony had called her a silly girl.

Ainslee fired each shot quickly, in stark contrast to Jane's cautious shooting style.

Ainslee used the same target Jane had used.

The smart screen displayed the results: 0 rings.

It indicated that all shots missed the target.

"How is that possible?"

Jane had excellent eyesight and had clearly seen Ainslee's gun aimed at the bullseye. His arm was steady, and even if his aim was off, he should have hit around the eight or nine rings, not zero.

Jane looked closely at the bullseye again. There were still only ten bullet holes, no more.

Ainslee's bullets had all hit the exact spots where Jane's bullets had struck.

Jane's expression changed slightly as she had to admit that Ainslee had beaten her.

'The head of the Richardson family, no matter how scholarly and frail he appears, is still the leader of a powerful family! How could he not have any skills?' Jane thought.

"Mr. Richardson, how about we make a deal?" Anthony immediately pulled Jane behind him.

He could not have been more protective and possessive.

"Mr. Clark, please speak," Ainslee said, looking as if he was all ears.

Anthony pulled up a map on his phone and circled a location. "Your family has always wanted to break into this market. I can help you."

"In exchange for Ms. Watkins?"

"Yes."

Jane looked at Anthony in shock. "Are you insane?"

By trading a market share for her, Anthony was not only giving away his family's interests but also potentially making enemies of other market stakeholders in the area.

"No deal," Ainslee flicked his hand. "You should know that I'm not very interested in business."

Jane thought Ainslee's mind was as abnormal as Anthony's.

Jane suddenly had a terrible suspicion. "Mr. Richardson, you are not planning on using me to blackmail someone, are you? We agreed that the game wouldn't cross the line and was just for fun."

Ainslee was amused by Jane's cautious and guarded demeanor, as if he were looking at a cute little sister. "Of course, Ms. Watkins, rest assured. There are some things I'd like to discuss with you in private."

Ainslee made a gesture of invitation, pointing towards a small conference room.

Richard finally understood Ainslee's purpose, relaxed, and smiled self-deprecatingly. 'I worried for nothing!' Richard thought.

"Mr. Clark, Ms. Watkins is not your concern anymore. You have a fiancée and will soon have a wife and child. It's best not to interfere too much with Ms. Watkins' friendships," Richard said to Anthony, both warning him not to overreach and assuring him that Jane's private meeting with Ainslee was safe.

Anthony wasn't worried that Ainslee would harm Jane because Jovan was currently Ainslee's right-hand man.

As long as Ainslee needed Jovan, he wouldn't harm Jane.

However, there was always the possibility that Ainslee had taken a liking to Jane and wanted to marry her.
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
