Chapter 1159 How About I Give It a Try?
"Jane, where are you and Mr. Clark at now? Is there still a chance for you two?" Lester asked boldly. "I used to have some prejudices against Mr. Clark, thinking he wasn't good enough for you. But now that I've gotten to know him better, it's clear he truly likes you. You can see it in the light that fills his eyes when he looks at you."
"So now you think he's good enough for me?" Jane asked Lester, looking at him with a look that said, "Are you planning to betray me?"
Lester said, "Jane, you're dodging the question."
Everyone in the car was eagerly looking at Jane.
"Alright, check if the preparations are done. We're about to arrive." Jane interrupted their wild thoughts.
The first two or three days of shooting were relatively easy, mostly capturing natural landscapes.
Starting from the fourth day, many human elements were introduced into the shots.
Today, they were heading into the desert.
Several photography teams merged into one big group, and everyone was ready to get on the vehicles.
"Jane, you sit in the front car!" someone from the logistics department informed Jane, pointing to the second white SUV in the front row.
Jane nodded and walked over.
When she opened the car door, she saw a familiar face in the driver's seat.
"Why is it you?" Jane was shocked.
"The director said you needed a driver," Anthony replied.
The documentary's director was a big shot, and Jane had heard early on that he knew Anthony.
'But even if they're acquainted, surely the director wouldn't ask Anthony, the head of the Clark family, to be a driver, would he? And even if he did, would Anthony come like that?' Jane thought.
Jane felt Anthony was treating her like a fool.
"Get in," Anthony said.
Jane turned to look and saw that everyone else had already gotten into their cars under the logistics department's arrangement.
Lester and the others, who had been following her, all took a step back, very tactfully deciding not to interfere.
"Jane! I see there's a seat over there; I'll go sit in that car!"
"Me too!"
"Bye, Jane!"
"Hey!" Jane shouted, but to no avail, as they took off like a shot.
It was obvious to anyone with a brain knew that Anthony being the driver was a special arrangement.
Otherwise, who could get the head of the Clark family to be a driver? And not only that, but it was also "coincidentally" arranged for Jane to sit in his car!
Here, he was probably only driving Jane.
Jane had no choice but to get in.
Everyone was ready to go, and Jane couldn't delay the whole group's schedule for her personal reasons.
Fortunately, the journey from the hotel to the desert wasn't far.
After getting in the car, Jane started preparing the camera, adjusting the equipment settings, and putting on her complete sun protection gear.
By the time she finished all these tasks, the car had already reached the destination.
Along the way, Anthony glanced sideways and saw Jane constantly preparing, so busy that she didn't even lift her eyelids.
He felt helpless and had no choice but to indulge her.
Deep in the desert, someone suddenly remembered and said, "The person who was sent to the hospital was supposed to drive the dune buggy and the desert off-road vehicle. Now that he's not here, no one has taken over this task."
"Why didn't you say so earlier?!" The person in charge was so frustrated he almost cursed.
Driving a dune buggy requires a professional, and driving off-road in the desert is more technically demanding than driving on normal roads because the sand is soft and fluid.
For this shoot, to capture the grandeur of nature, the driver needed excellent driving skills to achieve the desired effect.
Unlike TV dramas, documentaries can't be casually done; every shot is precious, and a sloppy segment would affect the entire film's quality and level.
The person in charge found drivers from a local club, which had dune buggy and desert off-road projects as entertainment. But the drivers they found were only at the thrill-seeking stage, making it look scary with sand flying everywhere, without a hint of beauty.
Dozens of people were exposed to the sun for two hours, drinking several boxes of mineral water, but still couldn't get a satisfactory shot.
"How about I give it a try?" Jane said to the director.
She felt that if they kept going like this, she would be sun-dried.
"You can drive these things?" The director was shocked. 'Can Jane handle such extreme sports?'
"Yes," Jane pulled her hat down a bit to block the sun, "but I haven't played in a long time. I can give it a shot."
"Trying is fine, but what if there's a safety issue?" the director asked.
No matter what the job, safety was the biggest concern. Dune buggies and desert off-roading were not like other things. Given Jane's status, if something went wrong, how could he explain it?
"She can't." a man's voice interrupted their conversation. "I can."
"Mr. Clark!" The director thought, 'if something happened to you, I couldn't bear the responsibility either.'
"Why can't I?" Jane's competitive spirit flared up. She believed her driving skills were not much worse than Anthony's.
"The plan calls for a male driver for close-up shots," Anthony said.
Jane was surprised. "How do you know that?"
"The plan was just lying on the table, so I flipped through it," Anthony continued to the director, "We've already wasted so much time, and everyone is tired. I'll drive, Jane will shoot, and we'll get it done quickly."
Jane stood aside, and Anthony's words "get it done quickly" made her give in.
If they stayed any longer, Jane felt she would get heatstroke.
Most importantly, the light was getting dimmer. If the sun set, their whole day would be wasted.
Jane hesitated for a few seconds and then agreed, "Alright!" She instructed Lester, "Bring over the drone controller."
Others gradually realized something was off.
"The person in the car seems to have changed?"
"Yeah! Why does it look like Mr. Clark?"
"It really is him!"
"Isn't that crazy? Anthony was driving the buggy? Who can afford him?"
"How petty! There's no need to talk about appearance fees; Mr. Clark must be doing it for Jane. The last thing he lacks is money. Honestly, these two are a good match!"
"The production team hit the jackpot! Anthony's time is so valuable, and he's helping us for free! And just with his face, our documentary will definitely be a hit!"
"Jane is operating the drone!"
"Jane is so skilled, even better than the professionals!"
"I'm curious; is there anything Jane can't do!"
Jane got used to the drone's controls, operating it while watching the footage it captured. Once satisfied, she confirmed the task assignments and positions with the other two team leaders.
On the other side, the director was discussing the driving route and the needed effects with Anthony.
