Chapter506

Natalie paced back and forth in her living room. She maintained her pace, whether brisk or slow, but she could not dismiss the peculiar feeling in her right leg. She reassured that this was only the beginning.

‘It’s no big deal. Take it slow. It’s no big deal.’

She repeated this in her mind like a mantra.

While she walked, the image of Oliver unexpectedly emerged in her mind—his anger as he burst into the bathroom, scolding her for not listening and for harming herself again, alongside his whispers of reassurance.

"Natalie, I don’t mind."

"It’s okay, baby."

"I’m so sorry, baby."

He would bring her to work daily, ignoring the looks from his employees just to ensure she ate well. He would grumble, "You’re to blame for your fall. It’s your leg."

Because of her, he offended the Hastings family, which he previously had a good relationship with. He would wake up in the middle night, and despite looking irritable, he would gently massage her lower abdomen.

He asked her at that time, “If I promise to divorce you, will you eat well?”

However, she could not surmount the emotional barrier she faced, the mental shadow cast by that kidnapping incident. There was also the fear of the unknown concerning her leg and future.

Before she realized it, Natalie found herself in tears. The issue was not a lack of love; it was the absence of courage to continue and face the situation together.

Natalie never approached the window. Had she done so, she would have noticed the silver-gray Lamborghini that had been parked by the roadside since the afternoon.

After three years abroad, Marjorie was returning home for the first time.

Oliver and Arthur came to pick her up from the airport.

"Where’s Tina?" Oliver inquired, noting Arthur's solo arrival.

"She’s at home, playing," Arthur responded, his eyes softening at the thought of his daughter at home, playing with her anatomy models and test tubes.

"Were you worried she might get snatched at the airport?” Oliver saw right through his brother’s thoughts.

Arthur, intent on shielding Tina from any distressing childhood experiences, always presented a composed demeanor in front of his daughter, despite his active legal efforts to secure her custody.

To onlookers, it appeared Arthur was focused on winning his daughter over, but Oliver understood the truth—it was not only the child he wanted, but the child’s mother as well.

From afar, they saw an elderly lady with silver hair, dressed in a Chanel suit and holding a delicate pearl clutch, making her way toward them. She exuded an air of dignified grace. She was accompanied by a personal assistant who helped with her luggage.

Without acknowledging her grandsons, the elderly woman surveyed her surroundings before she asked, "Where are Natalie and Tina?"

Oliver's face darkened as he pressed his lips tightly together, choosing to remain silent.

Accustomed to her eldest grandson's reticence, Marjorie turned to the younger one and asked, "Where’s my Tina?"

"Tina is at home, playing," Arthur replied.

With this, Marjorie knew she would not be meeting Tina so soon. Then, she turned to Oliver and asked hopefully, “What about Natalie?”
