Chapter 205 I must be blind to like you!
Adrian was so angry that he walked up to Natalie, wanting to grab her collar. He accused, “You’re still trying to pretend!”
However, before Adrian could reach her, a man who had been standing idle by Natalie's side stepped forward, shielding her. The morning light made the silver mask on his face shimmer, revealing the astonishingly beautiful lower half of his face. His voice was cold and menacing as he asked, “What do you think you’re doing?”
Adrian took a deep breath before he stepped back reluctantly, stomping his feet in anger. In his eyes, Oliver was a waste, and yet, he could not help but fear this waste.
Adrian could not afford to provoke Oliver, so he pointed at Natalie, who was standing behind Oliver, and said angrily, “You’re the one who arranged for the woman to be in my room! You even sent the reporters here! What’s your intention?!”
'What do you think my intention is?” Natalie asked calmly. She was curious to see what absurd and shameless accusations he could invent.
Adrian, seething with rage, laughed mockingly before he said, “Isn’t it because I left you for sister so you hold a grudge against me and plotted against me? Or do you hold a grudge against Hailey and the Watson family as well?”
The atmosphere became tense and silent.
Oliver, arms crossed, watched the exchange with a lazy interest, choosing to remain silent. He was curious to see how Natalie would counter next.
Natalie coolly unveiled Adrian's hypocrisy, saying, 'Adrian, even if you feel ashamed and wish to frame me, is it necessary to confess in front of so many people that you cheated on me with Hailey? In the past, I ignored the rumors about me being the third party in your relationship. However, I really didn’t expect you to admit it today.”
Adrian, stunned and infuriated by her words, could barely respond.
Natalie continued, 'I didn’t expect you to succumb to my sister’s seduction back then, and now, it seems like you’ve done it again. I wonder who is the woman inside? Oh, right, where’s my sister? Why isn’t she here?”
This prompted the crowd to realize Hailey's absence, igniting a flurry of speculation and demands for the truth. They had been so engrossed in watching the show that they had forgotten about the other main character in today’s show.
“That’s right! Where’s Hailey?”
“Adrian, who’s that woman?”
“So Hailey really seduced her sister’s boyfriend in the past, and Adrian cheated then, and he also cheated now!”
“This show is really interesting!”
“If I were Natalie, I wouldn’t like Adrian either. Look at how protective Oliver is of her!”
“Hey, where’s Hailey? Call her here!”
The chatter grew louder and louder around them.
Adrian’s expression was extremely unsightly. He did not expect that Natalie, who appeared gentle and amiable, was so cunning and eloquent. He hastily called a trusted aide to manage the escalating situation, but Hailey was nowhere to be found.
‘Where did the stupid woman go at a time like this?!’
Oliver, unperturbed, observed the unfolding drama, before he signaled to Isaac and Wyatt, who were at the edge of the crowd. After all, Hailey could not be missing at a time like this.
Isaac and Wyatt exchanged a look. They played a round of rock, paper, scissors. Wyatt, who lost, left to complete the task while Isaac stayed back to watch the show.
Adrian attempted to disperse the crowd.
“Everyone, please leave! A lawyer will be here shortly to speak to everyone! Please refrain from spreading false information. You’ll have to bear the consequences if there’s any negative impact.”
“Spreading false information?” Natalie said, confused, “That’s only if the information is false. However, we have solid evidence of what happened here. How is it false? The reporters are just reporting facts. Your words don’t seem quite right…”
‘Exactly!’
The reporters almost applauded Natalie on the spot.
"Natalie!" Adrian glared at her; his anger palpable as he gritted his teeth.
"You mean, Aunty Natalie," Natalie shot back. She glanced at Oliver before she continued, “Do you need your uncle to remind you again?”
Oliver's expression did not change, as if her words had nothing to do with him. Yet, upon closer inspection, a hint of amusement was discernible in his gaze, which was a tacit approval.
Natalie felt a surge of joy internally and proceeded to assert herself with confidence.
"My people will come to speak to you soon. I know what you want, and I’ll give it to you! Now get lost!” Adrian said, just short of directly offering the reporters hush money to keep the matter under wraps.
Soon enough, Adrian’s staff came and coordinated with the hotel personnel to manage the situation, effectively encouraging the crowd to disperse.
With the realization that the spectacle was over, the onlookers began to leave, albeit reluctantly.
At this time, Oliver received a message.
Wyatt: "Hailey is en route. Someone managed to keep the news from spreading.
A moment later, Wyatt sent another message, including a name.
Upon seeing this name, a coldness flashed in Oliver's eyes, mingled with a trace of amusement.
The situation was becoming increasingly chaotic and exciting.
Natalie had not intended to linger. Her plan was to leave with the crowd, but Adrian unexpectedly stopped her.
The area outside was temporarily cordoned off.
Only Natalie and Oliver were left in the corridor.
Adrian's previously agitated state seemed to have settled, but his heart burned with greater fury now. It felt as though his heart was ensnared by thorns.
"Natalie, how could you do this? Sending an innocent woman to my bed and then sending the reporters here,” Adrian said through clenched teeth, "You’re really evil! I must have been blind to have liked you in the past!”
‘Innocent woman?’
Natalie was briefly stunned by Adrian’s characterization of Lyra.
‘Lyra is not innocent at all; you’re just foolish! I don’t understand. You’ve been a womanizer for so long. Why are you still fooled? Is Lyra’s acting so good?’
Natalie was not the one who had called the reporters. She had intended to do so, but with her current means, even if she managed to summon numerous reputable reporters to the island, it was doubtful they would dare to expose the Harrington family's heir. Instead, she had anonymously circulated the news within the circle, ensuring Adrian's indiscretion was known. This alone was sufficient to disgrace both families involved.
Although she did not know who had informed the reporters, she had to admit the other party had, in a way, helped her with her revenge.
Now, not only would the Harrington family's reputation suffer, but they would also face significant financial repercussions.
Furthermore, the wider the news spread, the more people would talk. Even if the reporters were compensated to keep silent, the scandal was already widely known.
