Chapter 985 Beautiful Women Have No Conscience
Two hours later, Ann arrived home.
Ann had rushed back upon hearing that Aurora was discharged from the hospital, fearing for the well-being of her future daughter-in-law and grandchild.
Ann inquired about Aurora's health, and Aurora answered each question.
"Mrs. Clark, I want to discuss something with you."
"Aurora, why are you being so formal with me? Just say whatever you need to."
Aurora took a shallow breath and said, "I hope Jane leaves here. I have a good friend at a very famous art school abroad. Their photography program is excellent, and I want to recommend Ms. Watkins to go there."
Ann was stunned for a few seconds but quickly nodded. "Alright."
In fact, Ann had wanted to send Jane away a few days ago but felt it was inappropriate since Aurora had insisted on bringing her in. She felt her family owed Aurora and didn't want to bring it up. Now that Aurora had this intention, it was perfect.
But Ann just didn't expect that Aurora would want to send Jane abroad.
That evening, when Anthony returned to the villa, Ann called him into the study.
Ann straightforwardly told Anthony about the plan to send Jane away.
"No way, she's supposed to go on a business trip with me the day after tomorrow," Anthony refused without a second thought.
Jane was not safe now, and Anthony couldn't allowher to leave his sphere of influence.
"I've already bought her a ticket!" Ann said sternly, "I think the Royal Academy of Arts in England is quite good. This school is a cradle for the best artists in the world. I contacted the school during the day and arranged for her to go there for graduate studies. I don't need her gratitude, and this is my final act of mercy towards the daughter of my husband's murderer!"
Ann did not reveal Aurora's involvement.
"Is this your mercy, or are you just trying to throw her away like garbage? Don't you know yourself?" Anthony's face turned cold.
"Garbage? How many people want to get into the Royal Academy of Arts but can't!" Ann slammed the table and stood up. "Anthony Clark, put away your little schemes. Even if you like Jane to the point of obsession, she will never marry into the Clark family! Unless I'm dead!"
In the face of Ann's threats and ultimatums, Anthony's heart was numb.
"Mother, did you succeed in pushing Aurora onto me? Even if she now holds the title of my fiancée, she will never appear in my spouse column."
Ann seemed to grasp a winning card, saying, "She's carrying your child, and the baby is due in two months. Can you marry Jane now?"
"Mother, I've grown up. You need to learn to compromise." With Ann's current abilities, aside from the shackles of filial piety, she had no way to control Anthony.
Aurora had been waiting for Ann to send Jane away, but after a whole day of waiting, there was still no movement.
Aurora and Jane had torn their relationship apart, but she was in no position to force Jane out of the Clark family. Aurora had a feeling that if she told Jane to get out, Anthony would return those exact words to her.
Aurora never believed in the eternity of love. Her father initially didn't love her mother either and was forced to marry her. Aren't they doing fine now?
Aurora believed that she could become like her mother, enjoying the same luck and happiness.
Another day passed.
Aurora sat on the sofa in the living room, surrounded by three servants attending to her. She saw Jane coming down the stairs with a 24-inch suitcase.
That suitcase was the same one Jane had brought with her when she arrived.
Now, she was taking it away in the same manner.
Aurora's nerves, which had been on edge for two days, finally relaxed, and she smiled, "Ms. Watkins, have a safe journey. I've contacted the admissions office at the University of Melbourne's Art School for you. You can continue your studies there."
She might as well have "No need to thank me" written all over her face.
Jane looked bewildered. "What do you mean?"
Jane then smiled, "Aurora, I don't mean to disparage the University of Melbourne, but three years ago, when my family had its incident, the school contacted me with a full scholarship, including room and board, in hopes that I would attend. What were you thinking when you mentioned this school?"
Jane originally wanted to say "What the hell is going on in your head", but considering that Aurora was pregnant and the baby in her belly already had sensation, she held back.
Aurora was stunned.
The University of Melbourne was a globally recognized school, yet in Jane's words, it seemed so insignificant. 'Does this school hold no pride in Jane's eyes?' Aurora thought.
It wasn't that the University of Melbourne lacked pride, but it was that Jane was too sought after.
Back then, the University of Melbourne was not the only school that extended an olive branch to Jane.
Jane wasthe top socialite, with impeccable taste, extraordinary aesthetics, and outstanding abilities, even if the University of Melbourne had to pay to bring Jane over, it would still be a profitable deal.
Later facts proved that Jane indeed had the qualifications. Her current status in the photography world was among the best of her peers without the support of other noble resources.
"You..." Aurora's smile froze on her face. She sensed something bad.
Then she heard Jane say, "I'm accompanying Anthony on the business trip."
"No, you can't go!" Aurora's face changed dramatically, and she stood up, trying to grab Jane.
Sadie quickly pulled Jane back to prevent Aurora from grabbing her. In the world of high society , there were countless instances where a pregnant woman would intentionally grab someone, cause herself to miscarry, and then frame the other person.
Aurora missed Jane, stumbled, but was fortunately supported by the attending servants.
"Aurora, be reasonable. I told you about this in advance, hoping that you could discuss it with Anthony. And what happened?" Jane mentioned this with some frustration. "I got no response from you later."
Jane had no idea that Aurora and Ann intended to drive her out of the Clark family, or even out of the country.
Aurora smiled bitterly.
Aurora realized that Ann failed to make Anthony compromise, but instead compromised to Anthony.
"Jane, you're accompanying your ex-boyfriend on the business trip, and he's now with a fiancée. His fiancée, who is pregnant, is standing right in front of you and saying you can't go. But you ignored me. And you rejected me. Do you have no conscience?" Aurora asked, her voice hoarse with desperation.
"Conscience?" Jane smiled, "Beautiful women have no conscience."
Jane's conscience might have disappeared three years ago when the Watkins family fell, Jovan had his incident, and she knelt in the rain in front of the Clark family villa for the entire night.
With that, Jane nodded to Sadie, pushed her suitcase, and walked out, not wanting to entangle with Aurora any further. 'Aurora couldn't handle Anthony, but now she is crying in front of me!' Jane thought.
